When will embassy open for interviews?  Are November interviews still going forward?

For what it is worth I received a stock email back from the embassy this morning saying that our appointment in November is still scheduled as planned.

On the I-129F form it asks what embassy you want the interview and paperwork to go through.  It essentially states that the embassy has the choice to refuse processing if the beneficiary (fiancee) is not from that country.  Has anyone used the Warsaw embassy for a RW?  I'm assuming the Warsaw embassy is up and running, etc.  After you have submitted the I-129F can you change the designated interview site?  Any thoughts?

Thanks

You cannot change the embassy which has jurisdiction over the territory where your fiancee is from. Tne Warsaw embassy is still up and running and processing fiancee visas from Ukraine, etc. Those of us who are in the realm of the Moscow Embassy are s**t out of luck.

Someone just posted this to the TSC Complaint Board. Doesn't sound good to me. Here's the post:

State Dept. on Moscow Embassy
Tue Oct 23 11:15:55 2001

My congressional contact called the state dept. in Washington DC this morning on my behalf to ask about the situation in Moscow. They told her that the embassy closed because they received some threats a few weeks ago and that they are not handling any interviews yet. They had no idea when the embassy would resume doing interviews. They would not make an exception for me.

In case you haven't heard, the embassy is processing other types of visas but only through the mail. Apparently they are afraid of opening to the public right now.

Our interview was scheduled for Oct. 17th and now has been rescheduled for Dec. 17th. They refuse to do any better than that.

I'll pass along any more information when I receive it. Please do the same.

That sounds exactly what I've been experiencing the last few days. My fiancee's date was for October 18th. I called the embassy 1.60/min line and was first told we could only have December 10th- no exceptions. When I called back last night to verify (as I was instructed to be sure to do) I was told, NO- it will be December 18th. Curiously, it's exactly two months after our original date- which is the same for you, Mike. Possibly an administrative quick-decision, a speculative number pulled out of a hat? This is very frustrating and I've written my congresswoman, but I doubt it will help. Yes, these are difficult times, and we all have to make some sacrifices and be more understanding etc. But, I have received communications from two men whose fiancees' postponed interviews were rescheduled for MID-NOVEMBER. Whose THEIR congressional contact? Two more months is a disheartening blow to my lady and she feels crushed. Plus, her k-1 visa application expires two days before the new interview date. How is that going to be resolved? Just a little vent: It's easy for some people to criticize the 'self centeredness' flavor these postings have; the published anger from being rescheduled so far in the future (when we've worked so hard to get to the finish line.) No excuses here, just a hint of the levels of anxiety we're feeling and a humble plea to consider that logic bows to emotion in circumstances like these. Forgive us these moments, may they be short-lived, and united we do stand. The embassy is safe, that's the bigger picture.
