I will be going to meet a Filipina beauty in June, with hopes of everafter. I am interested in a dictionary, a travel guide, budget, and any other books that you might suggest. I would like to spend about fifty dollars. Also, what is the avaliability of English language paperbacks books and news mags. I asume readily avaliable, but where. Thanks in advance Capt david.

Almost every mall in Cebu has a National Book Store.  Almost everything is in English.
Culture Shock- Philippines is a good but a bit dated book.
Check out the Lonely Planet website, a lot of info for free!
