A few days ago I started a thread here regarding the quoted price of an agency changing after I paid my deposit.  I did not mention the agency name but still I want to correct what I did.  I misunderstood an e-mail in reponse to my inquiring about the total costs.  I wished to ensure that I knew 100 percent what the costs involved are.  The reply listed all the options available.  I did not understand this the way it was intended.  I received a few e-mails telling me that I had to be wrong about this.  So I finally did what I should have done to start with and e-mailed the agency and now I understand.

To be honest I think I anticipated getting screwed so I reacted without offering the benifit of the doubt.  So I apologize for any bad thoughts created on my part.

I have read this board for over a year with no problems, so I think I will go back to reading more and complaining less. :-)

TexasRob you have nothing to apologise for. Being suspicious of the agency business on your first trip to Cali is a perfectly legitimate response. Non of us wants to get flim-flamed.

Hi Rob,

I may have added fuel to the fire and so my apologies also!!

However after reading your latest post it's still not clear to me what you mean when you say you were mistaken.

1. Are you telling us the $395 membership fee is not required with your 8 day, $70 per night stay but you misunderstood the email?

OR

2. Are you telling us that the $395 is required but you just misunderstood the email?

Also, you gave enough information in your original posts for myself and perhaps others to begin speculating on who and what agency it was.  For instance, you identified it as a popular agency in Cali, that the person you had contact with (presumably the owner or directer) was a non-native English speaker and male, you gave specific pricing information and that pay by contact was an option also.  If you give this much information, IMO you might as well identify the agency.  (-:  If you want to keep an agency's name secret for whatever reason, it's better not to give any detailed information that overly curious people like myself might speculate on.

Have a great time in Cali...

The membership is NOT required with that plan.

Well as I stated before I was suggesting to other new people to make sure they understand things up front.  I was not trying to impact someones business.  I have not been to Cali.  I do not know how many agencies there are.  I did not realize that in wording my post that I was suggesting anything.  My lifes mission is not to locate trolls on this board or destroy the integrity of anyone.  I am simply here to gain knowledge of this process.  In my orginal post I made it clear that the error could be my own.  My understanding of the e-mail I did not think I was wrong so I made my statements.  Hindsight is always 20-20.  I made an emotional post while pissed off.  Now I am saying so.

Thanks for letting me know that I had not made it clear that the membership is not required.

Rob

what i always do is fax the agency with listed questions and ask them to please answer the questions on the same sheet of paper and fax it back to me that way there is no misunderstandings its right there in black and white.
