One year ago, I embarked on a one month excursion to Costa Rica and central Mexico. This was a vacation and a chance to look at a business opportunity in Costa Rica. While I was there, I took notice of the language schools scattered all over the country. I decided this would be a very inexpensive way to stay in a Latin country, learn about the language and culture, and have an opportunity to meet many new friends. While in Mexico, I checked out a program at a private university in Guadalajara, and decided this would be a good place to start, as culture shock would be minimal and I could drive there, affording me the opportunity to explore the countryside on the weekends.
During this time in central Mexico one year ago, I met many beautiful women, from 20 to 35. The one that really got to me, though, was the 35 year old. I met her at a MALL...she was shopping with her nieces, and I thought she was about 25 years old. She was one the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, and I really had to work my nerve up to talk to her (even for a Latina). She was friendly, educated and spoke fairly decent English, but when she said she worked as a model, the red flags went up. But she assured me, that she only worked at the Expo , as she is in demand by Expositers for her command of English. She was also the most conservative woman I have ever met, from one of the most conservative families in one of the most conservative regions (Los Altos de Jalisco) in the world.
Anyway, I returned to Oregon to make preparations for a life changing move to Guadalajara for six months. I called this woman regularly,  but when I returned, I was like a kid in a candy store, with the girls at my university showing a lot of interest. Let me say too, that when I was at school, I had a chance to compare Colombianas, Mexicanas, Brasilienas, Peruanas and Panamanians, and the winner as far as looks was the Brasilienas, followed closely by Mexicanas in second. Anyway, I dated around, but the young girls just lacked the maturity I was looking for. When, in my arrogance, I got around to calling the 35 year old, she said she was dating someone else, as she had waited for me, but I had never called for weeks after arriving. Stupid me...So I went back to dating the young ones (I am now 41), having alot of fun, but really getting nowhere as I think girls everywhere like to play games at that age. I called the 35 year old again, and she was free now, and we really hit it off! Five months together with the most amazing women I have ever met, and last week I asked her to marry me. She accepted, and we are making plans for a November wedding! She returned with me to Oregon to visit my family, and fits in great. My elderly Mother seemingly has awoke from the grief of my father passing away because of this woman. What a blessing! Her little niece who is 12, also rode all the way with us, as kind of a chaperone for my fiancees very conservative father, who is 88 years old. We have alot of trouble convincing people they are Mexicana's, as they have blond hair with blue eyes. But they are 100% Mexicana, not to be confused with most of the Chicanos or Cholos that are in the USA. We will live in Jalisco for the winter and Spring, as she has accepted an Administrative position for one year, in a hospital her family owns . My career field allows me to work here in the USA in the summer, then I have fall, winter and most of the spring to live in Jalisco. Anyway, yes, I found her in a MALL in Jalisco, paid no lifetime membership fee, and am sooo happy! I think more men on this forum need to realize that they can do it on their own, it really isn't that hard.

Saludos desde Oregon, Randy G

Randy,

Congratulations on your engagement.  I was wondering what happened with you down there and low and behold, here you are posting away.

I get the impression your fiancee is conservative. (-: During my adventures in CaliLand, I was searching for a more conservative girl myself.  It was really though.  There were plenty of conservative Protestant women but few if any who were Catholics.  I eventually gave up on this and lowered my expectations in this regard.  I think I may regret this however.

In Cali, the new generation may still be culturally Catholic however most young people do not practice or know very little of their Faith.  What's the situation in Guad?

Anyway, another "mall" success story, I'm sure there will be more.  (-:

Hello El Diablo,

Can I ask you something about your post that I read. You said while in Cali "There were plenty of conservative Protestant women but few if any who were Catholics".

Can you please give me some more details about what you mean here? I have never visited Columbia but as I understand Columbia is mostly Catholic rather than protestant, are you aware that this is not the case anymore?

Thanks for any insight.
Canadian Guy.

The population in Colombia is predominately Catholic, however there is a growing Protestant presence.  Most Catholics and particularly those of the new generation do not practice their Faith.  The Protestant community on the other hand is smaller but more fervent.  They are true believers if you will.  They are much more likely to be  evangelicals or fundamemtalists than main line protestants.

There are also large groups of what I would call quasi-Christians, Mormons, JWs etc.

Diablo: My amiga's that I met at the university run the scale from extremely conservative to extremely liberal. Yes, my fiancee is very conservative, as her family is from a small town steeped in Catholicism in Jalisco. The people in this area are also more European looking as the French and Dutch settled here 150 years ago. In fact, two of my Mexican friends who work in the music business and have travelled the world over, including Colombia, told me that the best looking girls in the world are from this region. The downside to this is that, although very approachable, beautiful, tall, fashion conscience and feminine, they require a lot of time to develop a trust based relationship, which doesn't work well for time constrained men. Spanish is usually necessary to communicate with girls in the smaller towns. As far as women in GDL, you can find anything you want, just like any big city of five million. Randy G...

What I need is Time my friend.  Time, opportunity, and money, and hitting all the right notes to create music with a latina. Good report.

Hey Randy - Welcome back and congradulations!!!!  You actually met and had success with a beautiful latina, someone from the other sex, at a MALL of all places.  Will wonders never cease.  Why anyone would think this is not possible is beyond me.

Glad to hear you continued to keep in touch with her.  Sounds like you have a good thing going and good luck in November.

Keep posting because there are some guys interested in the latinas from Mexico.

Take care.

Congradulations! You are too lucky. This woman is the total package and more.  Thank god you woke up and realized girls are the same everywhere when they are young. Many just want to play.  A true woman is what a man aspires for in  wife. The fact that your fiance is so conservative, comes from a good family and has a good educational backgound is something to be proud of. She will fit in anywhere making you a proud man. You did well.

rick13, thank you for the kind words...And to think I almost lost out on her due to the fact that I wanted to chase the younger girls! Not that there was anything wrong with them, but like you said, many just want to play, here in the USA and probably everywhere, and there is nothing wrong with that, it is just the age they are at. I was very arrogant about finding a younger one for too long...and almost missed out on this great woman! When I have more time, I will post some photos on one of those free web photo albums. Randy G

Randy, I think it would be great if you posted your photos. I'm looking foward to seeing them. Again, congradulations for finding the perfect wife. We should all be so lucky to find a package half as perfect as yours. It gives me incentive to know the total package does exist. But patience, knowing what I need and strategy will be needed.  Thank you.
