Hey Georgina,

Do you know of any good agencies in Peru?  Is it a relatively safe place to travel?  Is it a Spanish speaking country, primarily?

Thanks for your help.

Just a couple of breif comments on all the replies I read.

I am just getting started so I have not set a date for going down there, in fact I have not yet begun to contact any women down there.  When I do go, I will happly share my story and help anybody however I can.  I was thinking about June, but it is approaching fast and I do not even know anybody.

I work with two sisters from Peru.  They are wonderful people, and one has a son going to college in Peru.  She suggested we hook up because things are cheaper for local people who now where to go for train, cab, entertainment, etc.  She also indicated that the city is not that interesting.  I believe this can be true for people who grew up there, but for somebody from another part of the world I am sure it is all very interesting.

I have heard that the Miraflores is a very nice hotel to stay at, it was rated very highly by Fodor's.

I have know problem getting off the fence once I meet somebdoy, the problem has been getting off the fence to sign up for an agency.  I am having a very hard time selecting one and may just take it one "address" (for lack of a better term) at a time. Any suggestions from the Vets is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks again, to everybody.

I've heard there are a few agencies in Lima and that there's a good number of interested ladies.  Check with sotb, amigosintl, and  intlady.  I was thinking of going  but haven't gotten off the fence.  Please give us a trip report when you return.  I'm sure many guys are on the fence or haven't considered Lima.  Give us the straight scoop.....and good luck!

I've been to both Colombia and Peru. I liked the women much better in Colombia. The Colombians (from Cali) seemed to have the edge on looks and we more likely to know English.

Peru seemed much more backward than Colombia. Crime was higher there - we were actually robbed by some street thug while walking on a street in down town Lima.

Just a couple off hand comments based on personal experiences.

Thanks for your report. Respectfully I agree and disagree with you.  I was in Cali... and absolutely the ladies were stunning sexy beauties.  But I loved Lima and found many nice, pretty, sexy, and educated ladies there.  There's alot of subjectivity in this MOB pursuit.  What's steak for one hombre is livestock feed for another...or...ah..you know what I mean.  Diversity makes for an interesting world...doesn't it?  Besides Cali has enough gringo vistors anyway.  LOL.

I saw no Americans while in Peru but kept bumbing into them in Cali. It seems that the Introduction Agency is well known and accepted in Colombia. Peru is a much different matter - agencies are not very strong there.

I'm interested in knowing if you found anyone in Peru that you have made a relationship with?

This is great.  What info can you give us about the agencies in Lima?  My info is only thru the grapevine from 2nd and 3rd hand sources.  I would love to hear directly from someone who went, saw, and conquered.  Actually I have plans to go myself but  don't have an exact date yet.  My last relationship with a Peruvian was about one year ago.  We met thru correspondence but never in person.  She was a beautiful lady and worked for the public University near Miraflores.  She gave up on me because I just couldn't get off my duff and get to Lima to meet her.  I think it was a residual mental problem I had from that fiance debacle a few years back. I had been to Lima so many times and had great experiences with friends, etc. but when it came time to choose a marriage partner I picked the bad apple.  I gave so much time, money, and emotion on that fiance that when it ended up in smoke I seriously questioned my ability to make a wise choice. Hence I never returned to Lima.  But I have many fond memories and my heart will always be there.  One of my Peruvian lady friends called me from her new home in Greece, and another from London, England.(gringos aren't the only ones taking these ladies away)  Anyway thanks for asking.  It's getting time for me to get off the fence again.  I'll be able to make a report, unless someone can persuade me that the agencies there are not worthwhile.

Tracy,

I think Red Clay explained it well to you. We speak Spanish and very clear. Peru can be safer than Colombia but you have to be careful. It is good when you already know people there because they can tell you where are the safe zones and where are the dangerous zones. It is also good to have a guide with you. Never put your money in your pockets. You can keep like 20 dollars but no much or better if you have just soles (Peruvian money) with you. My husband put his money in his boots and he never had problems when he was there. Miraflores is a safe place and very nice. San Isidro too. Peruvians are friendly people, but I have to tell you with pain in my heart that I do not recommend people going by themselves. Do you know someone there?

Check out this website for Hotels and rates in Peru. www.perutravelnet.com

Like Red Clay said I also know about an American man who has a website with addresses to sell, pictures, etc. The name is latintreasures (dot) com but I have not hear from them lately. I have not heard about other agency in Peru.

There are very nice ladies over there but just be careful as always. Any other question do not hesitate to ask. And if you decide to go drop me a note and I can write you about the do and don't do stuff. Good luck!

.....I just married a great lady from Peru. Yes, Spanish is the primary language there. Another language called Quechoa is spoken in some remote areas of the country, but doubtful that you will encounter it.
It is considered much safer to travel in Peru compared to Colombia, for example. I have visited there and felt very safe, there are a few parts of Lima that I wouldn't visit without a local person as a guide, but basically a safe and friendly place. People there were always interested to talk to me because I was American, they like gringos there. Did get some strange looks from people, because I am blonde/blue, not common there. But just looks of curiosity, not threatening.
There was a guy on this board that started a website to sell addresses from Peruvian women, not sure if it's still operating. Otherwise I don't know of any agencies, but Georgina might.
I have never heard of any travelers having "security" problems at the airport like those recently in Cali. A few times during my visit, my girl would tell me "wear your backpack in the front", or "lock your car door", this was near downtown Lima. Otherwise, everything was cool, even traveling outside the city to some other smaller towns.
As always, keep your eyes open for pickpockets, etc., and you will be fine there.
   Hope this helps

Red Clay,

Thanks for posting about Peru.  I plan to go there soon, at least to Lima and possibly to other cities.

Can you give me the names of any hotels?

Type "hotels, Lima Peru" into a search and you will find alot of links. The hotel I used was not one that I would recommend, but I tolerated it. Best bet is to find one in the area of Lima known as Miraflores, there are many.

Thanks very much RedClay, that helps a great deal.  If I think of other questions, I may be looking you up.
