Guys,

Thanks for your input and thoughts, appreciate it.

I just spoke with her on the phone and I proposed that we split the ticket price...I pay the first half now via CC and reimburse her the other half once she comes to America.

For now, I need a creditably travel agency in Dnepropetrovsk.

Any travel agency recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I have to agree with Bobby Orr and the other posts that this really sounds fishy.  How do you pay a Ukrainian travel agent for 1/2 the ticket with your credit card?  Never done that and, if she's legit as you claim, she may not have the cash and be unable to buy the ticket and the Dnepro travel agent pockets your money.  Perhaps Dan or Jack at firstdream.com can assist you in locating a travel agent in Dnepro, but I really think you need to first visit her for all of the reasons stated below and a bunch more.  Even if she's totally legitimate, your long term prospects are much better if you meet her and her family.  Some AM meet RW in the Bahamas or other locations to avoid the time and hassle of traveling to the FSU, and generally those marriages don't last.  You need to go over there and meet her and her family if you want this to work.  Also, $800 for a r/t plane ticket to Kiev seems a little high for this time of year.  If you're going to pay $400 with her advancing the other half, you might as well buy a non-refundable non-transferable ticket here (or FF ticket as suggested below)for around $550-600 and send it to her via Express Mail.  That's how I sent my wife's tickets for Paris and her trip to the U.S.

Thanks for the comments, Charles.

Thats a good deal you had for $550, Which discount travel agency did you use in buying a RT ticket where from flights originate in Ukraine to US?

A recommendation will be appreciated.

Check the archives on this board along with brama.com for various agencies.  I just looked on expedia.com (which is by no means the cheapest) and flights were $630-650.

All this effort, when it really would probably be much easier for you to visit her and get a feel for what she is really like in her own "habitat".

Bruce -

1.  Better you go to visit her.  Have a backup plan in the event she is a scammer.

2.  If you decide she has to come to you, have her first send you copies of her visa / passport.  Check them out with help from the closest Ukrainian embassy to make sure they are legitimate.  Only then could you pay for the tickets on your credit card through a Dnepropetrovsk travel agency (she provides you the information - ideally they communicate with you over the internet.  She never gets the money.  All she can do is pick up the tickets.

3.   Otherwise, you are asking to be scammed.  Better safe than sorry.
