I plan a 10-day r/t from DC to Simferopol Ukraine in about six weeks.

Red Star travel says most airline schedules will require me to spend one overnight in another city (Moscow, etc) before I can fly last leg into Simferopol.  Also, same thing on the way back. This eats into my available time for stay in Simferopol.

Does anyone know a route/airline I can fly from DC to Simferopol without having to stay overnight in a European city before last leg?  If not, do you have referral to another travel agent with experience on this route?

Thanx much --  Burt

Washington to Istanbul to Simferopol also.
And, you can easily fly into Kiev and then onwards to Simferopol the same day (check the schedules as the weekend flights from Kiev (IEV -Zulhaney) are less frequent than during the week).
The Frankfurt-Simferopl connection flys on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Check out Ukraine International Airlines schedule .....

http://www.ukraine-international.com/eng/timetable/index.html

You can fly non-stop from Frankfurt, Germany to Simferopol.  Frankfurt is a major hub and easy to get there from anywhere.  My preference is to leave the USA on Friday night and arrive in Frankfurt the next morning with an hour or two to refresh before catching the flight to Simferopol.  The major problem is it is a seasonal flight.  The dates are posted on the schedule.

Burt,

I will be leaving shortly out of JFK for Kiev, arriving late morning, connecting at Borispol for a 6:00pm flight on Aerosvit to Simferopol.  My wife and son are aready in the Crimea, they were able to get a 1:05pm flight to Simferopol on Aerosvit.  Check out www.amadeus.net/pl/aerosvit/en/avail_only.htm for their flight schedules.  However, it is likely that you will need to set up the domestic flights using a travel agent in Ukraine.  We use Uzbekistan airlines, but they only fly JFK to Kiev on Fridays and Sundays.  Of course, I realize that you would have to get to JFK for this to be helpful.  For the return trip, we will have to spend a night in Kiev.  Good luck with your trip.

Thanx much John and DJD --

I've added your info to my planning, and I came up with a workable solution.  Suggestions from both of you were very helpful and appreciated. --  Burt
