How did you find that?  When I try to do that online, I come up with expensive fairs Amsterdam to Kiev, often with an intermediate stop between Amsterdam and Kiev. I may be using the wrong travel agent, but he doesn't come up with that either.  (I'm saying that my travel agent may be the "wrong" agent for these trips because I'm his only client that goes to Ukraine.)

What do you ask for?  When I do that, I get one set of tickets from Florida to Kiev and back. Do I understand that you buy a special to Amsterdam then a separate ticket to Kiev? Do you buy on the web or telephone?  Sorry to be so slow on the uptake here, but you seem to have gotten a much better deal than I just got.  I'd like to replicate what you're doing.

I got a great deal from United from SF to Amsterdam (non stop) and then a seperate ticket through NorthWest (which code shares with KLM) from Amsterdam to Kiev.  When I arrived at Amsterdam, I wanted to catch an earlier flight to Kiev.  However, KLM refused to change the ticket (Unless of course I paid them more money) because they said it was booked on their code share partner Ukrainian airlines.  Again, my trip was last year.  However, I see that they (Ukrainian Airlines) were recently offering R/T from London, Helsinki, Frankfurt, Brussels, etc. to Kiev for about $220.  Did you call Ukrainian airlines yourself?  When asking for prices from the airlines, I always tell them the cheapest ticket possible (after I of course searched the internet for the cheapest price) and usually when they quote their cheapest price I then joke that I'll be glad to ride in the baggage compartment if they will give me a cheaper ticket to ride in it.  Smiley  This usually gets them laughing and then I ask them to check to see if there are any cheaper flights around the time I want leave.  Sometimes it requires changing plans to leave a week later then planned or returning sooner then expected.

I've purchased tickets from them without any problems and paid for my tickets by credit card.

Let's put it this way, when I tried to do business with them, they insisted that they did not take credit cards.  This was in February or March of 2001. Did you use a credit card with them during that time frame?

They also insisted that they initial fare quoted to me was only good for tickets originating in Kiev, not in the United States.

This is what happened to me.  Hopefully, it is the exception, not the rule.

I'm trying to book flights from South Florida to Kyiv right now.  What was $1156 on Sunday was $2056 on Tuesday on NW/KLM.  I'm finding $1150 to $1600, using a different airline for each flight.  This is for May 10 to May 19.

South Florida = leave / return out of either Fort Lauderdale or Miami.  I sometimes find it cheaper to leave from one airport and return to another.  I have a third alternative, West Palm Beach, but the price difference ususally does not outway the extra travel distance.

My travel agent worked a little magic and the fare is down to a more reasonable leavel - he even got it for less that what NW/KLM is quoting, even on the internet.
