There doesn't seem as much disinformation here as there was 6 mths/1 year/ 2 years ago.
I must have arrived during a slow patch!!
Good to see things are normal here... I very rarely visit now I am too busy... its mid summer, a perfect cloudless day 32 c, The Volvo round the world yahcts have just arrived in port from Sydney via Hobart. They probably get to the States in late Feb/March
The other day I was talking to a bloke who hit the same scam as me, He lived In Moldova for 4 mths (he's about 50, his Ukrainian wife is about 32 and his stepson is 12... they live about one klick away from me.
the scam was:
the old 'found money routine' ... only differance was in my case it was a bankroll that the man in front of me 'found' as he was walking in front of me - and wanted to share half with me [very generous I thought, to find $2,000 in the street and want to give half to a total stranger {who obviously is a foriegner... ha ha }.
It took him until the 2nd 'player' came up and demanded to see his wallet to get in the picture, he worked nearby, and ran there. Me I only had about 15 cents on me, I was only going to buy a loaf of bread, I was a little concerned, but was in a lot safer city.
Actually, I have a little joke with the missus, when she is driving (scared the sh*# out of me at first) [ yes, she paid $10 for her licence - she had to, she got set up, the test was in Uzbek, which she can't read] when she freaked she would instinctively head for the right side of the road - we drive on the civilised left hand side, ha ha , so that saying do something scary every week, well, I got lots built up. Anyway my joke is when ever we see any police I ask her how much she is going to pay them in bribes, She ALWAYS forgets to take her licence - valid for 1 year, But the cops have waved her through to check points now without checking her, so she is pretty confident now out driving, every day she studies the Road code (test neaded to be passed here) next week she will try it.
Buggar... I'm late... spot you round guys!!!
