There doesn't seem as much disinformation here as there was  6 mths/1 year/ 2 years ago.

I must have arrived during a slow patch!!

Good to see things are normal here... I very rarely visit now I am too busy... its mid summer, a perfect cloudless day 32 c, The Volvo round the world yahcts have just arrived in port from Sydney via Hobart. They probably get to the States in late Feb/March

The other day I was talking to a bloke who hit the same scam as me, He lived In Moldova for 4 mths (he's about 50, his Ukrainian wife is about 32 and his stepson is 12... they live about one klick away from me.
the scam was:
the old 'found money routine' ... only differance was in my case it was a bankroll that the man in front of me 'found' as he was walking in front of me - and wanted to share half with me [very generous I thought, to find $2,000 in the street and want to give half to a total stranger {who obviously is a foriegner... ha ha }.

It took him until the 2nd 'player' came up and demanded to see his wallet to get in the picture, he worked nearby, and ran there. Me I only had about 15 cents on me, I was only going to buy a loaf of bread, I was a little concerned, but was in a lot safer city.

Actually, I have a little joke with the missus, when she is driving (scared the sh*# out of me at first) [ yes, she paid $10 for her licence - she had to, she got set up, the test was in Uzbek, which she can't read] when she freaked she would instinctively head for the right side of the road - we drive on the civilised left hand side, ha ha , so that saying do something scary every week, well, I got lots built up. Anyway my joke is when ever we see any police I ask her how much she is going to pay them in bribes, She ALWAYS forgets to take her licence - valid for 1 year, But the cops have waved her through to check points now without checking her, so she is pretty confident now  out driving, every day she studies the Road code (test neaded to be passed here) next week she will try it.

Buggar... I'm late... spot you round guys!!!

Hi DTK,
plenty of drongos and dufamongers around.  Have you heard any news from your lady about Tashkent?  Are the American military guys that used bases there able to have time to meet any of the ladies?  Also, another question, Mr. link man, what is the link for Uzbekistan airlines?  I tried the link from Yahoo but either it is wrong or the site was down early this morning.

I have a bookmark for Uzbekistan airways as www.uzbekistanairways.nl.  However, I get the error message that it can not be located so I think it may have gone offline.  I was last able to access it a couple of weeks ago much of the content had been removed, for example instead of a timetable of flights, the website refered users to the local offices.

Here is the US address in New York I save six months or so ago.  I have not tried to verify it.

US, New York, code 1-212
Address: 630-5 Avenue, Suite 1401,
New York 10-111,
tel: 489-39-54, 489-39-56

Also, a search for Uzbekistan Airways at www.411.com  yields 3 address / phone numbers.

a few years ago, a uk (british) girl friend of mine visited me here in the states, and I picked her up at jfk enroute to quebec for a vacation.  She wanted to "drive" my volvo to help her kill jet lag... wow, what a thrill.  I couldn't sleep a single wink on that day long trip, dodging cars on the left hand side of the road!

haha, come on dtk, give us right side drivers a break now and then will ya?

Not even a vile troll could stir up the group up.  It used to be a troll post like that would cause the board to fill up in an hour.  The only thing getting us stirred up these days are political discussions and disagreement on if the US is such a great place to live or not.

BTW, I considered New Zealand the nicest looking country of all I've been to.  That should come to no surprise to you, since it had the world's highest standard of living in the sixties.

I think a whole bunch of guys just got married and left the board and few people are taking trips now.  Things will pick up later in January.
