Well,  today is day 3 my sweetie has been here with me. So far everything is great. I went to a Ukranian American club several months ago and made some contacts. They are all older people  but I thought it would be nice for Kate to be able to speak some Ukranian after only hearing english all the time. So I called up one of the ladies I met at the club and she invited us to their church. It turns out that it is a ukranian catholic church. Silly me --I thought everyone in Ukraine was orthodox. Kate is orthodox. Anyway, I am not catholic but we did speak to the priest about the possibility of having the wedding there. It is too soon to make any decisions but I thought it would be good to start looking into it.  The church is about an hour away from where we live.
Kate is a good cook. We had our first disagreement just now. I told her we would go out to a resteraunt for dinner and she said yes but when we got home to change clothes for the resteraunt she decided she wanted to cook instead. Now am I suppose to raise a fuss cause she wants to cook and save money ??-- LOL  - naaa  -  so " she who must be obeyed" is cooking now... yum yum.
Okay that is it - just some random observations from the first 72 hours.

From the posts below, you might get the impression that all RW are super frugal.  Not the case here.  My wife doesn't see any point in going 'window' shopping.  She only goes when she has money to buy. And while she does know which stores have the better deals, she doesn't take very long in deciding to buy something.

My RW can spend money just as fast as my AW ever did.  So remember, your experience may vary!

Keith,
It sounds as though you are in Heaven.  Best of luck to you both.  As apk tells below, RW have got to be the most frugal women on earth.  They love SHOPPING as much or more than AW, but when it comes to SPENDING it is a whole different ballgame.

I remember one of my first shopping experiences here with my wife.  We went to a Mega-mall to purchase a leather coat for her.  My idea of shopping for this was to check the few leather stores, make a decision and be on our way.  I didn't know that she needed to verify that she was getting the best value by comparison shopping EVERY woman's clothing store and department store in the entire mall.  After more than 2 1/2 years here things have changed some.  Now that she knows her way around the stores and is mobile with her car and license, a purchase like a leather coat, might take weeks.  She would have many malls and shopping centers to comparison shop!  My wife refuses to make any impulse buys.

Ken,

Really sounds like you have a good women there.  Your posts are always interesting.  I recently hung out with Tootsie and her boyfriend here in San Diego, and they said they had met with you, and you were a great couple.

Maybe if I ever find another RW to bring over, we can get together.

Wishing you happiness,
Wayne

Better get used to the arguements (smile) about her wanting to save you money. My Anna spent 5 days shopping for her wedding dress, she brought $900 of her own money to pay for this and towards the wedding, she finally bought the dress but only spent $90.00 after getting it on sale for 90% off.
I have had all of my wedding plans downsized because she felt it was "too much money", my mother will not sleep if we spend so much she tells me!

We went out to a few restaurants and she did like the food, but complains about the expense...Every morning she gets up early before the kids to make porrige (hot oatmeal) and packs their lunch for school. If she had her way we would be eating porrige 2 meals a day and borsche for supper!
LOL, get used to it and let her take charge of the menu, you will soon find what it it like to eat "healthy" for a change.

Those of you that have heard that Russian women just want to spend your money have probably found a scammer or just one that is too young and naive. My 39 y.o. Anna can spend 3 hours a day hitting the stores to find bargains that I did not know even existed, and come home after spending $10.00!  She has been here now one month and my grocery budget has been cut in half from what I used to spend and we eat just as well...

Apk,

I understand your lady's bargain hunting and saving on food very well. In fact, I can tell you this from my own experience, coming from Eastern Europe to AU 10 years ago so being a migrant myself.
I can remember like it was today when I first went to buy some food to a supermarket, I nearly walked away empty handed. The reason for that was that everything seemed to be so expensive. Going to a restaurant? - madness!!! What happened I automatically recalculated the price of every product to a currency in my former home country and compared the cost here and there (at that time). Subconsciously I thought I could not afford anything! I can tell you it took me a while to get over it, and I got rid of that feeling for good only after I started to earn some real money myself.
And that was me who was never really that fussy about money and cost in general.
Now imagine what effect it has on a woman who is used to save every cent during her whole life!

The funny thing is that now I truly think how cheap the food is over here, (among other things).
When I was with my fiancée, she often asked what the cost was for various things here, food, services, etc. When I thought something was really cheap, she was actually horrified how expensive it was.
I am just looking forward when she comes here at last and see everything for herself. I can already imagine her standing in front of the shelf in a supermarket, taking one product to her hand then putting it back, grabbing another one (cheaper) and finally ending up with nothing in a trolley. Yes, this was me 10 years ago.

When it comes to saving and getting a bargain, she is no match (apart from other RWs, I guess :-)).
