NTV is a good tool for language learning. Dish Network is the only one who offers it. There are 2 channels, NTV International and NTV Plus. Both of them are in flux because of legal difficulties. NTV International gets most of its programming from TV6, which is being sold by Lukoil. Gazprom is selling Media Most, the parent company of NTV. It's a messy situation and the programming has suffered.

One of the best features of the channels are the Russian news. It's not that cheap, but it is nice to have.

Going on until Oct 31, 2001... get their dish & tronics for free just pay postage and sign up for $31.99 program package for 1 year...  This beats the sox off of the Dishnetwork.

I gotta have my CNBC, even if it's all bad news Smiley

Yes, the postage is $14.95 and you must never have been one of their customers before and pay for 3 months of the 'Total Access' Package (basic program, no HBO, etc...) But 100 programs etc...  I signed up for it.  Now that I'm living out here in sticks.

Hello,

You may have or will receive an email in error indicating that your
DIRECTV satellite system has shipped - please disregard that email.

Unfortunately, we are unable to ship your DIRECTV satellite system
that you ordered.  You are in a limited area served by the NRTC
(National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative) and we do not
have a contract to sell DIRECTV in your specific zip code.

What we can do is change your order to a DISH Network Digital Home
Plan for the exact same price ($14.95 shipping).  You can choose
1 or 2 receivers and you get FREE Professional Installation
for both TVs.  The Digital Home Plan also covers free
in-home service and the first month of programming is free!
There is a 1-year commitment to a minimum package of $35.99 monthly.

We are very sorry that we are unable to get you a DIRECTV system
only about 3-5% of the nation falls within this zip code restriction
for the NRTC.
Your credit card has not been charged because we are unable to fulfill
your
DIRECTV order.

Screw Directv. They are too expensive. I dumped them 2 years ago because they raised their rates and lowered the quality of their service. I was paying over $80 a month to them. The same Dish Network package is just over $60.

You got lucky. Directv would have bent you over and screwed you hard.

I did the Direct TV offer this past summer offered by Blockbuster.  $9.95 for the system and installation.  At that time they had a 4 month everything plus NFL ticket for $44/mo with no further obligation.  Also got a free rental per week for 1 year from Blockbuster.  Will probably convert to Dish Network in December when my 4 months are up.  So I'd suggest if anyone is considering Direct TV, check with Blockbuster and see if they are still selling for Direct TV.
