"Colombia" wrong, its still pretty accurate and good info on weddings--God bless--ColWorld Destination Weddings

Destination Weddings in Columbia

A wedding in Colombia is a lively celebration befitting this colorful and dramatic nation, whose vibrancy and beauty enchants every visitor.

Touches of gold are often added to Colombian wedding dresses - the bride is most definitely the focus of the day. Your wedding reception could be held at the local hacienda, which will be decorated with flowers. At the start of the night, a toast will be offered to the bride and groom, and you will enjoy your first dance together. The wedding cake will be placed in the center of the dance floor, and it is traditionally the first thing to be eaten at a Colombian wedding reception. Colombia also has a wedding drink - Aguardienete.

This nation is unique in South America in that is has both a Pacific and a Caribbean coast. Between the two lie mountains, rivers, rain forest, jungle, deserts and no less than 33 national parks, home to a huge variety of wildlife.

Countless ancient cities and archaeological sites make Colombia a fascinating destination. Highlights are San Augustin and Tierradentro, sites in the southwest of the country, noted for their ancient statues and tombs. The colonial era has also left its imprint on Colombia. The colonial architecture of Cartagena, a former Spanish fortified port, and the town of Popayan, is beautiful.

The capital, Bogota, is packed with fascinating museums and churches. Its streets are thriving with roadside stalls, markets and pavement cafés, and the arts and entertainment scenes here are particularly lively. Colombia's ethnic mix results in fascinating national crafts, sculpture and music, many of which are at their best in Bogota.

The enchanting Islas del Rosario, a collection of islands 20 miles off the Caribbean coast, are yet another highlight of Colombia. Diverse marine life thrives here, and the coral reefs are stunning.

Once visited, Colombia is never forgotten. This dramatic nation is an awe-inspiring place in which to celebrate your wedding.

Also, for the wedding receptions. I would like to have a wedding in one of the colonial style churches in the pueblos of the mountain ranges. They are remote, but they are definitely vintage and beautiful. I was in a town called Barichara, which is about 3.5 hours from Bucaramanga. The town had a really beautiful church, and next to it there was a large valley that seemed endless. It was a humbling experience.
