Looking for an interpreter.  My fiancée is trying to fill out some forms for the Embassy in Bogota.  There are some questions and information she needs from me.  Unfortunately, between here poor English and my poorer Spanish we seem to be getting nowhere.

It’s one thing to have casual conversations.  Understanding and answering these doc questions is another story.  The horrible telephone connections aren’t helping either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a good Lawyer friend in Cali. If you would like to Email me and I will give you his phone # and you can call him. His English is reasonably good and he is curently doing
my fiancee's (canadian) paperwork. I have found him very useful in many other issues some legal and some  where I required info on Colombia. From what I can tell he is a very good resource for us guys feeling frustrated by the language barriers and the communication problems.

Thanks Clint,

It does get frustrating when trying to go over these documents over the phone.  She has some in Spanish and some in English.  She was almost in a meltdown mode when I talked to her this morning.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Bob

I am bilingual and I should be able to help you with the translations. I helped a friend of mine in Cali fill out her documents to send to the embassy so I should not have a problem. I could possibly do this after 5:00 one day next week if your interested. I live in Georgia so I am not sure if your time zone is the same as mine.

Hi Beto,

Thank you for your offer.  If you could please send me your phone number via Email, and a good time to call you, it would be most appreciated.

She has a difficult time communicating the questions to me.  Apparently the questions are in Spanish.

The main issue we have right now is that the administrative time for our visa application expires on Sept. 30.  She was in an accident about two weeks after she received the package from the embassy in Bogota and is currently still under Doctors care.  This has created a problem with our timeline in getting all the information for the Embassy.  We are trying to get an administrative extension to the Sept 30th date.

Thanks,

Bob
