Question for Houndog & Your Opinion

Dog,

Since you have some experience with a trustworthy Translator/Guide who you have given high marks to (Andy), what do you think of this idea? A trusted local person (not an agency) does some on-the-ground fact-checking for gringos who have made the trip once and have a few Latinas to choose from, but need some in-depth information as to the girls background and character. What had prompted this is that I am now undergoing extensive reference-checking by a professional firm and it's been different from anything I have experienced. If the the same methods could be employed here, this could be a great way to weed out the bad apples VERY FAST. In your line of work it could be compared to a thorough inspection of a used automobile before purchase to look for HIDDEN DAMAGE. A Carfax for Latinas! Please understand, I am not advocating the private-investigator type of stuff, just the ask-around-the-neighborhood type of stuff. A while back there was a woman named Clauda from Chile who travelled to Cali, I think at the behest of her boss at the time to go down there as an "advance party" to interview lots of women beforehand. Like a recruiting service that pre-screens employment candidates! This might be a good idea. Any thoughts?

Actually I think it's a very smart idea. In fact even speaking espanol (except in Tai's case) usually will not bring many things to the surface that a local can gleen. Such as slang words...slips of the tongue...what friends and 3rd parties will say to your 3rd party ..perhaps on the QT. How the ladies act after you're gone, but that a man on the ground could validate and double check on. In fact Andy exposed several Less than sincere ladies for me in Cali.

Personally I wouldn't go thru the whole process without the checks and references, observations of an Advocate that was on my side.

My take is most guys are too cheap or think they won't get burned because they're different, to hire a man on the ground.

Last time I tried to find Andy he was MIA. Disappeared.

Don't know what happened to him.

The problem with being a Translator/Guide/Second Pair of Eyes and Ears are several, but lack of 'steady' work and income is the biggest.

However...if you decide on Cartagena my wifes cousin is a great choice.
