... in response to Anybody with Vladivostok experience, posted by Johninm on Dec 14, 2001Yes, I know the area quite well. My wife is from Nakhodka, went to school and practiced medicine in Vladivostok. Eastern Russia is definately different than the west. Well, St. Petersburg that is. Only comparison I have. But yes, it's different. I liked it very much. And the people are wonderful. Of course I can only speak for my wife's family and friends. As for flights, Korean Air is the best way to go. Connecting flight in Seoul. Cost is around $1100.00. Summer or winter. Accomodations? Well, I do know of some nice hotels. But, your best bet would be to rent a flat.
$125.00 to $175.00 per month without telephone. $200.00 and up with. Of course where you are located in the city will make a differnce as well. But, you could rent a VERY nice flat in the center of the city for somewhere between $200.00 and $300.00 per month. Everything included. Anyway, if you have any questions just ask. I'm more than will to help.
