I personally don't like to receive spam, detest telemarketers and don't particularly like to read advertizements on Planet-Love or anywhere else. Thank you, Patrick, for not allowing self promoters to promote their own businesses. I enjoy it. Not the spam but the website is great and Jim has been a member here for a long time. He has many things to say. Title: Re: Re: I disagree Post by: Patrick on January 27, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: I disagree, posted by Heat on Jan 27, 2005
You're confused. It wasn't agency spam I deleted and had nothing to do with Jim. It was a new poster who's first (and only) post was simple spam with no discussion. In other words, someome here only to use the forum to promote a commercial site. Title: my bad...... We have been trying to link with planet love for six months. We keep getting a response that we are under consideration. My Latin Dream no longer exists and the new site name is www.Esamor.com. We are based in Cartagena. Thanks for your assistance JIM Columbo Title: Re: Re: droque (Spencer?) please patrick Post by: Patrick on January 27, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: droque (Spencer?) please patrick, posted by jim c on Jan 26, 2005
I've recently started going through the hundreds of sites submitted and am adding all the ones who recipricol link to PL first (I'm going alphabetically and am up to "s"). Once this is done, I'll start again at "a" for those who do not reverse link. I'm afraid it's going to be a while. Hi Jim, Welcome back. I checked out your site after you posted the address a little while ago, was pretty impressed, and actually posted the following message but never saw any response from you: *************************************** Hey JimC Wow! What an incredible site! Can you give us a little background info on Esamor.com? Given that you are currently translating the pages to english, I am guessing that it was an existing venture in spanish. Correct me if I am wrong and tell us more. Matt **************************************** Anyway, it would be great to learn more about your site when you have some time to respond. Thanks, Matt Title: Re: Jim C Post by: jim c on January 27, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Jim C, posted by latinmatt on Jan 26, 2005
Hi Matt In response to your question, Esamor was originally called My Latin Dream which was located accross from the Intercontinental in Cali. I had an apartment in Cali for four years and was one of the original clients of Bud's Latin Love AKA the Crystal Palace. As to the translations, we are translating web pages into spanish with the help of our staff. We do not translate or "invent" profiles!! for intance-- "I speak some english" "I am well educated" which are standard lines plugged in by some agencies. The ladies create their own profiles at my Condo although some join by internet. The site is a combination member website and agency much like amigos.com, only we have a travel destination. In the future we will have accomodations based on the style of the Crystal palace as well as the pricing policy. I will be glad to answer your questions at info@esamor.com and we have a FAQ page which can provide answers to some of your concerns. Thanks for your interest JIM C Title: Re: Re: Jim C Post by: kented on January 29, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Jim C, posted by jim c on Jan 27, 2005
I also stayed at Bud's Latin Love and if you duplicate their pricing policies, you are indeed on the right track. Agencies play a useful purpose but many of them have exorbitant prices based on the ignorance (as to options available) of their clients. The "Two Gringos" book which led to their forum was based on helping men understand the process and choose an agency which would not rip them off. Although I am "out of the game", I appreciate agency owners describing their services which is what you have done above. I don't think non contributors should use PL as a vehicle to advertize their web site or agency. Good luck. "One of the most beautiful citiesin Colombia" Give me a break. Cartegena is a s__t hole! I've visited this city on numerous occassions and each time this city gets worse and worse. The beaches and city are filthy, traffic is a nightmare, Who are you trying to kid anyway? Abouth the only cool Moving an agency from Cali to Cartegna has definitely Anyone considering going to Cartegena for the best Title: Re: Re: Re: Jim C from jimc Post by: jim c on January 27, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Jim C, posted by Ricky on Jan 27, 2005
well ricky To each his own. If you think Cartagena women are ugly check out our site. I don't think others here will agree with you. As to other cities and experience, I maintained an apartment in Cali for four years but got tired of spending my days at Chipichapi or unicentro. There are really no places in Cali where a gringo can go alone in the day and be safe. Cali has about 80 murders per 100,000 person per annum vs Cartagenas' 18. I just felt the real estate and tourism industries were a better option than casket manufacturing. I have no idea where you developed your negative opinion, but it is obvious to me that you have spent very little time here. It is true that the beaches of Bocagrande are brown sand and loaded with vendors. But thare are other options. Terrrabomba island in Cartagena Harbor is a ten minute boat ride from laguito and costs 5,000 or $2.00. It has clean water and white beaches. There are no venders.Trips to the Rosario Islands or Playa Blanca beach are a great day trip. If you spend your time on Bocagrande beach you share it with the tourists from the interior of Colombia and the vendors. People with resources here belong to private clubs or use hotel or private pools. People who live here do not go to bocagrande beach. It is true that the barrios to the south of the city are dirty and run down but the tourist areas of Bocagrande, Laguito, Crespo, Castillogrande, and Centro are as clean as Key West. On the other hand all of eastern Cali is a pigsty and so is much of the rest of the city. There is no real traffic problem here , other than one hour a day. In Cali try three hours or anytime when it rains. There are more buses there than we have cars. The difference between what exists here and the other cities is that once you find the girl you want to be with, where can you go with her that is safe. I don't care how many girls there are in Bogota or Cali you only need the one. Once you have her, why is it important that there are more available in another city than here. If you like caleanas so much find one and bring here here. Only an idiot would take a Cartagena girl to Cali. jimc PS if you like to troll we have great fishing here. Out of Cali, Bogota, Armenia, and Cartegena, Cartegena is by far my favorite destination for vacationing. I loved it. I wasn't trying to meet anyone when there though, and we didn't much enjoy the beaches (mainly because we were pestered so much). I thought the city was beautiful with a rich history. The nearby islands were fantastic. Title: Re: Re: Re: Jim C Post by: Pete E on January 27, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Jim C, posted by Ricky on Jan 27, 2005
In my opinion Cartagena is one of the most unique,if not the most unique city in the western hemisphere. Its surrounded on all most all sides by water. The beaches while not being lilly white pristine are beaches and they are everywhere around.I find them to be 90% of what a pristine beach would be,you still have sand, water, great views. The beach vendors are a pain but are more under control and not as bad as before. There are beaches very close by where you can get away from them. The history is VERY unique, but it wouldn't be the same without the surrounded by water setting. The traffic I only found bad about 5-7 PM leaving Bocogrande, not nearly as bad as Medellin. As far as women it doesn't compare in my opinion to Cali or Medellin or even Bogota. But they are there, and there are lots of good looking ones. Who is visiting there depends the time of year you go.I found alot of young Italian guys to be obnoxious in August,a big vacation month for them. I could live in Cartagena.I might.Medellin is my favorite city right now but I only spent a week there.Right now its Cali for overall benefits, including the great women. Sounds like you had a bad time there. It does have some negatives but the possitives far outweigh them in my opinion. You were very harsh in your assessment of Cartegena. I found it to be a very charming city with LOTS of history behind it. The number of beautiful women there don't compare to the cities you mentioned, however, there are many beauties there and they don't have to take a back seat to any of those cities. Jim mentioned the city being safe to walk at night and I agree. You certainly won't find me strolling at night in any other city! Hell, I'd put Barranquilla women up against those from Bogota. Really you can't miss with the women if you go to any of these cities, that is if you have a personality and a healthy self esteem. The ugliest woman I saw in Colombia was from Cali, you could press her face in dough and make monster cookies! Don't forget that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I want to know what happened to you in Cartegena that makes you so negative? Peace Title: Re: Re: Re: Jim C Post by: AGUILA on January 27, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Jim C, posted by Ricky on Jan 27, 2005
Calling Cartagena a S**thole only makes you look dumb buddy. Especially when the competition you mention being Cali and Bogota. ( I will grant you Medellin as being a pretty city) Cali is a dump if you want the truth and getting dirtier and dirtier everytime I have revisited it. And Bogota??? Are you kidding me?? If you call Cartagena a S.H. well what does that make Bogota? Between its pollution, lousy weather, over population, military infested and danger zones it certainly would never be considered a destination vacation in the same manner as a Cartagena would be. Better women is a subjective consideration. You failed to mention a city that I feel has the best women in Colombia and that is Barranquilla, hands down. Barranquilla however is a dump and Cartagena outclasses it hands down. But from reading from what this Jim C wants to achieve, ie. combination vacation destination and marriage agency he chose wisely. Barranquilla does have beautiful women...no doubt about it. But let's keep my comments in perspective. For a matrimonial / introduction agency...I think Cartegena is the last choice on my list (In Colombia) No one can can refute the fact that Cali has the highest Have any of you guys been to Cartegena lately? It is No negative experiences to speak of. I just would Try some time in Cali, Barranquila, Santa Marta, and My comments stand. Cartegena is a filthy place. I think we have a tendency to overplay the city and its surroundings. Yes, Cartagena can’t compare to all the other Caribbean resort destinations but if you’re looking for a wife are resort activities and sights really that important. You have plenty to do in Cartagena during a vacation stay. I wouldn’t put my toe in the water but a short boat ride will take care of that. I think the population base of over 600,000 gives a marriage agency enough women to choose from. I will be there tomorrow for a sightseeing tour.
