i'll be spending 2 weeks in bogota in january and would like some recommendations on hotels that are, as they say in colombia, bueno, bonito y barrato. something nice that isn't a bed and breakfast but neither a palace, maybe 3 star hotel? maybe in the north? thanks

Hello,
You and I have never shared messages before.  At this point, I do not know if I will be going to Bogota or not.  However, in the event I do ( I am planning a trip to Colombia in March), then I could use the info.  Also, let me know your take on Bogota and the ladies from Bogota.  I am interested in comparing that info to when I was in Cali, back in August.  Thanks again.

the Andes Plaza is ok. only stayed one night but it is in a good area, decent hotel. you should be able to get a room for about 100K pesos ($40US) with breakfast and taxes included. hotels in the zona rosa i.e. Andino are nicer but pricier. another option, LAI has a small hotel/agency. reasonably nice, good area and a few chicas running around (bonus). probably about the same price as the Andes for room only.

Try this link. It has several very nice hotels in Bogota and other places in Colombia.  I can vouch for Hotel De La Feria. it is not too far from the airport and US embassy and Salitre Plaza shopping center.
