When my fiancee is interviewed in Lima I will certainly be there. Now to my question- I would like to bring her and her daughter back with me to the USA on the return flight! How long after the interview are the Visas granted? Am I safe in booking 3 for the return trip or unexpected delays common after the Visa interview? Any advice would certainly be aprreciated!

From what I remember about Lima, that was 2 years ago now, it was granted in 10 to 14 days. I personally waited about a month after that so she could get everything in order and that way you have plenty of time to search for some cheap tickets. Title: don't book the flight in advance... ALWAYS accept the very worst scenario. I would follow the advice from Tio Kented. BUT, I must admit I am only familiar with the process in Colombia. It is possible to receive a visa on the same day but if someone's hemorrhoid is acting up you could be out a plane ticket. I can appreciate your desire for speed (I was the same way and that was pre-9/11) but since you have waited this long stick it out. Best of luck. I doubt it. I read somewhere that it takes 3 weeks to get the visa. and that is, of course, assuming she passes the interview... I am not sure it takes that long. One of the guys who posted on Visa Journey went to the interview with his wife and was able to return with her as well. His id is Henryfromflorida - if you look for his posts, I think he mentioned this in the last thread. I have heard that some people have been asked to come back the next afternoon after the interview to pick up their Visa. So hopefully it will be pretty quick. |
