Hello everyone!
   My novia has her interview in Peru for her tourist visa in a
few days.  I know it will be difficult for her to get one.  She's a
bit nervous about the interview.  I'm not sure all the questions
they ask, but I hope things go well in Peru.   I'm not sure how
they decide who to give the Visa to and who not to!

Dont be to disappointed if she doesnt get approved. It's very hard to get a tourist visa in Peru.

The only time I got a tourist visa was when my then American boyfriend sent me an Affidavit of Support and thanks God it was a man who interviewed me. Most of the American women interviewing at the Embassy in Lima are really rude.

Anyway, I had the affidavit of support sent by my male friend, so this guy asked me why this male friend was inviting me to visit him in the USA and I responded that he had visited me and I was returning the visit. I told him that I have friends in other countries, too. Then he asked me if those other friends also invite me to visit them. I got kind of piss off and I told him. Come on, can't I have friends from other countries? He was torn, but he finally approved my visa.

When I came to the States and the guy at the port of entry asked me what I was doing in the States, I told him I was visiting friends. He asked, are your friends Peruvians or Americans? I said Americans and he stamped my passport with a 6-months permit to stay.

I think it really depends how lucky you get or the person you get to interview you.

There are people who have all the money, proof they won't state in the USA and they don't get a visa.

Other people just go there with their ID and a house bill and they get it.

One bit of advice..........tell your novia not to mention anything about having a boyfriend in the US.  If she even gives them an inkling that you are in the states waiting for her, they will deny the visa.
Same goes for a girl who has a tourist visa and is entering the states.  When immigration interviews her upon entering and she happens to state that she is visiting her american boyfriend, she will be denied entry.

Thanks for the tips and info.  I'll make sure she doesn't let them know
she is visiting her boyfriend...    I didn't know that once they arrive in the
US that they can also be denied after they get off the plane!!??   So at the
airport then it sounds like she also has to say she's just visiting friends.

My girl told them in Peru that she wanted to know Mickey Mouse when they asked her why she wanted a tourist visa. When they asked her about friend and family in the USA, she told them none. She was approved. This was in 1998, who knows now, but good luck.

It's a simple formula, really.  The fat ugly ones get their visas stamped for export.  The rest go back on the loading dock.
