Title: shipping to chile Post by: deffed on December 20, 2003, 05:00:00 AM hey guye this is my first post here i have been reading this board for awhile . anyway the problem i have run into is i sent a package to osorna chile it was a gift for my polola ans her girls well it cost 150 to send the gift express deliver well she calls me when the package arives and tells me that there is another 150 taxes on it from chile what it was a 15.00 toy and a 200.00 necklace i had valued them at only 500.00 . so i guess what i am asking is how do you get around the tax thing and also what is the best way to ship thanks dale

You found out the hard way buddy. You never send anything of value to Chile the normal way. Maybe once the free trade thing kicks in. I go back and forth several times a year. I always bring lots of stuff with me for my friends and myself. Such things as laptop computers, cameras, and the like. I you want, I could import somthing for you. You could send it to my parents house in Denver, I would be happy to bring it to Chile for you. Where does she live? I live in Vitacura in Santiago. I will be in Denver over the holidays, if you want to ship something, My brother is coming in mid-January. I will be in Denver in March also.
