Title: Robery at LE on Oct 15th
Post by: mudd on December 11, 2003, 05:00:00 AM
well, i just got an e mail from a friend of mine, but i cant say the persons name, because this person would get into trouble, even though this person doesnt work there anymore, but THAT robbery a few months ago did happen at Latin Encounters. from what my friend said, one european man came to the door with two locals, claiming he wanted to look at the books. my friend wouldnt let the other two in, even though the man said that they were his body guards. he told my friend he would return the next day...well they did, the maid opend the door and in came the men with the guns, told everybody to lay on the floor. took the money, cell phones, tried to get into margarets room, but she shut the door and started screaming out the window, so the men left. i guess this has happend before a few years ago, so you never know. im sure every agency in Cali has had something like this happen, but they have managed to keep it quiet. take it with a grain of salt, Cali is not the safest place to visit, ask a colombian in the US who's lived in Cali, and see waht they say.
i hate to report stuff like this because their are a lot of nice people in Cali, beautiful girls, but everybody should know the truth and what they are getting into before heading down there.

Title: I talked to Margareth today

She seemed like a very sincere person. It was her Sunday off and  we just talked alot, she knows my ex wife and her family.
I have no direct knowledge of what happened but it seems one version is the girl who told the story is a former employee of margareth who took alot of her file imformation to start her own agency.
About security, yes any house is vulnerable I think, even though Margareth is a half block off a fairly major street.I guess no one disputes the Latin Best robbery stories. That agency is in a much more out of the way location I am told. The major reason I am going for a gated condo with armed security guards.
I was going to get around to looking up Margareth anyway but she called me after Frank S told her about me.She even told one hot looking 36 year old I liked her fotos.Frank and I were browsing her web site together.I'll probably get in to following up on that soon.We didn't talk too much about girls.

Any one remember the robbery at Latin Best about four years ago? Five guys sitting around the living room with the door open. About ten pm in walked the tipos, one even had a silencer on his gun. I'd stopped in in the afternoon and there were chains and watches galore. I met one of the gringos at the airport the next morning. Had nothing but his ticket and passport. Had to borrow the cab fare and departure tax. He was bummed!

i dont doubt it, why is it so hard for stupid american men to think that a robbery in Cali of all places is so hard to believe. hell i was there about 5 years ago, got robbed at gunpoint in a taxi with some other stupid gringo from chicago, felt pretty stupid after it happend.
like i said before, if you have used LE in the last year, and if you go there now, what person is not working there anymore???????? DUH!!!! not too hard to figure out. not commenting on you Calivet

What makes them "stupid" if they want some corrobative evidence that the story is true?  The correct adjective would be "gullible" if they didn't.

Your story might be true.  I'm not saying it's not.  And it might be false.  If you weren't there what you have is "hearsay" evidence.  Hearsay evidence is generally "inadmissable".

hard to dismiss "hearsay"  evidence when the person who told me the story worked there, and i did send the exact letter to someone on the board, and like i told him," if you have used their office, then you would know who wrote the letter" but that person is still dismissing the letter and the person in question, and he has never used their services. i will re-phrase my stupid comment to  " hard headed"

This is a bogus story I believe that has been planted by business rivals. It first came out a couple months ago and has been totally discredited.Rumors from people who do not identify themselves are suspicious at the least.

yes, i thought it was bogus also when i heard it, even got an e mail from their office telling me that it was their competition starting rumors to drive business away, but the person who told me the story, worked there when this happend and i have no reason not to believe this person, since i found this person to be very honest, straight foward and hard working, and it would be very easy to get through the front door with very little planning. if you want give me an e mail and ill send you the letter telling about the whole ordeal.

still bogus to me.I have stayed at LE and know the staff
well.At the time of the supposed robbery a friend of mine was in Cali.He was there that day and there was nothing untoward going on.The original poster of this "rumor"
is a competitor.Either you are being used or helping snakes
slither.I hope it is the former.

I'm not so sure why it is so hard for you to believe that there was a robbery at LE.  It wouldn't be the first time that an agency in Cali had been robbed at gunpoint.  It would be very easy to rob gringos at an agency, and I'm sure many of the "bad guys" in Cali know this.
Also why is it hard to believe that Margareth would go to any lengths to cover this up??  I know if I was the owner of any agency I would do the same.  The last thing any of these agencies want is "bad press" regarding safety issues.
Remember fellas, this is Cali we are talking about.......anything is possible when it comes to crime.

I remember when this issue first came up.I personally checked it out.The original rumor spreader is a competitior
of LE.Sure, crime happens alot in Colombia. But it also happens alot in the good old USA.I live close to Oakland and I can asure you there is plenty of crime right here.
Why can't you believe someone is trying to hurt a competitor with unsavory practises? If you are going to make these kind of serious claims,I require people to proove it and IDENTIFY themselves.Anonymous is crapola for me.Especially on  boards like these where accountability
is thin.

Ok, Roadken I understand where you're coming from..........so since you're talking about credibility and accountabilty, just to be fair to Mudd, could you give us the names, circumstances, facts, etc. on why you believe this is a rumor???  For example, who did you talk to in order to "check it out"?? I think we need to hear your side of the story since Mudd won't reveal any details.  If your explanation makes sense, then you could put a stop to this "rumor".  Make sure you give us credible sources.
Thanks

My buddy is a guy named Geoff. He is from Ireland and lives in the states. Not far from me actually.Check the archives on when this rumor first came out.The original poster is a COMPETITOR!I have no axe to grind.I just despise people who spread lies on the net.LE does not deserve this kind of treatment, nor do many of the other agencies.FYI,I met my fiancee at another agency in case it matters.

as far as i know, it may have been the competitor who did the actual robbery, or paid someone to do it, and it wouldnt be very hard to find someone in Cali to do it. if you have been there, it would be very easy to pull of a small job like that house, people alwasy coming and going. as far as you thinking the letter is bogus, well, the person who wrote it used to work there and ran the office, so so much for your belief in margareth. like i said, if you had stayed there an used their services, and aparently you didnt, you would of known who wrote the letter.

Sorry you're confused but Roadken has offered no evidence that the robbery didn't occur, just a name of a guy named Geoff........All I'm looking for is the truth also.......you guys need to take it easy...........
Mudd made a post stating that something happened at LE, and Roadken came back with a post stating it didn't happen.  Mudd stated that his witness is a former employee of LE, Roadken said his friend named Geoff was there and saw nothing.  Roadken chastised Mudd for giving an anonymous source, but the best Roadken can provide is the name of a guy named Geoff from Ireland. So we're back to square one.

if reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.  That said, I'll simplify the question for you; what evidence have you or Mudd provided that the robbery did occur?  So far, Roadken has given us Geoff from Ireland (an anonymous source), and Mudd has given us an anonymous email friend.  Both unsubstantiated sources in my book.  I'm not on anyone’s side, just curious to know the truth.

Perhaps you're just bored and missing CaliPro for a good sparring session. -TNC

I met her at Latin-Internet.Good place but very far out.LE
was good woth lots of ladies as was LAtin Best. All Colombians has a good reputation but I have not been there.I recommend checking them all out.We all have different tastes and needs in a woman. Each has positives and negatives.I found the women at LE to be a little young for as I am 48 with two daughters.Latin Best had many ladies I liked but none that I clicked with.I met my novia
after I saw her photo in the books and just had a very good feeling about her.And I was right. One thing though,if I had not met Sonia on that trip,I would not have returned to Cali. While the women are more attractive in Cali, the quality is far superior in Bogota.I had made 4 trips to Bogota and was just a little burnt out on the city.I needed
a different scene.I found the women in Cali(as a whole)to be shallow and of a lower class than what I seek. They are beautiful though. There is nothing quite like that Calena behind.Oh my!!!

This is the main reason I do not post much. When this rumor first surfaced I was concerned because I know these ladies and was worried. So,I did check it out and in my opinion,it did not happen.Believe me or not,it does not matter. The agency because is very difficult and many gringo's are afraid of making the trip down to what many of us have discovered to be "paradise".It is for me and I want as many guys out there to know.To allow this kind of subterfuge
is destructive and counter to what I consider the purpose of this board. The e-mail sent to me by Mudd had no name on it.What am I supposed to do with that.It could be anybody.
That is why i offered my friend's name ,who I trust. You dont know me and I can understand if you do not trust me.Fine.If you are going to raise such a hot topic, please
have some depth to it.This affects people's lives and incomes in a negative way.Life is difficult as it is down there.I normally stay out of the cat fights, but this one
needs to be confronted for what it is.FYI,beenthere,I am in the real estate, business and do quite well.perhaps you do miss Calipro.I will respectfully decline to take his place.

Go back and read my posts Roadken, I just offered you an opportunity to disprove Mudd.  If you go back to the top of this thread you will notice that you questioned his veracity.  I gave you a chance to do that with facts, but all you could do is come up with the name of a fellow named Geoff.  Looks like you're no better than Mudd when it comes to providing hard evidence.  Sorry you think I'm a jerk.  As far as me stirring things up.........remember you had a choice when Mudd made his post, that is, whether to respond to him or not.  Seems like you like to stir things up also.  Just because you got called to the carpet for not providing any facts regarding the "alleged" robbery.  I for one would like to know if the rumor is true or not.  You seem to have "facts" (so you say).  Again I ask you, please give them to us.
Also don't confuse "stirring things up" with demanding that people use a little rational in their posts.  Many people just post here without thinking.  BTW, do you hold any type of office in the Calipro fan club???  hehehe

Word is, the police were the robbers.  At least a guy told that to a friend of my cousin's girlfriend's dog a couple of weeks ago in an e-mail (Hotmail account of course).  I can't say the name of the dog though.  It could get him in trouble.  I can't prove it, but since none of you can disprove it, it's gotta be true, right?
