Does anybody have any idea how to get this form?I am in California

I ve been the Marriage route before.  I believe this is the only time you need a certificate of Singleness.  

I should recieve an official answer to my 129f finacee visa within the month.  The basic forms were needed:  Bio, letter from both of you stating an intention to marry. 129 form, fee, just a few things to get things rolling.  When they give the OK, then you must submit tax forms, affidavit of SUPPORT form, proof of employment, and then she has to aquire criminal background check, birth certificate, and all her medical documents.  The majority of things will be on her end at that point.

You have to go to the Hall of Records.  It's the same place you go to get a marriage license.  They will do a search, for a fee of course, sorry but it's been so long I can't tell you how much it costs.  Anyway, they will do a search and if you are officially single, they will give you a document saying so.  If you were married before and then divorced, you will need all of those documents, too.  If you were married and the divorce did not get consumated, you are up a creek, you know which one.  

I don't know which country you are going to, but if you go to Brazil, you are going to need all the official documents officially translated.  I recommend that you visit your nearest Consulate.  Go to:

At the Consulate they will refer you to a translator who can do everything for you on the official level.

To get married in Brazil, you must provide the following:

Your passport

An official document from the government where you live; that you are single, and have never been married, and are available for marriage, or else that you are officially divorced, in which case, you must provide the official government documents of divorce.

Your birth certificate

A letter from your parents giving permission to marry a Brazilian citizen

A letter from your local police which confirms that you are not a wanted criminal

A letter from your most major government, the State Department of the federal government if possible, stating and confirming that you are an upstanding citizen, and not some low life homeless deadbeat.

All the documents must be in Portuguese, with official notarized translations, approved by the Brazilian government.  It usually takes about a year for the Brazilian government to get around to you.  So be prepared to spend a year, or more, waiting.  And, you must speak enough Portuguese to make it through the marriage ceremony in Brazil.  After that, there is absolutely no guarantee that you will be able to bring your spouse back to the United States, and you must deal with the United States Department of Justice; the Immigration and Naturalization Service.  

I wrote the above years ago, as we all know the INS is whatever Homeland Security they are calling it now, and things in Brazil may have changed, but I doubt it.

I asked this question here a while back and no one seemed to know. I´ve since come to find out that where I officially live, Seattle, this is known as a "Single Status Report", available from the county records division. Haven´t ordered one yet, but the instructions were to photocopy my driver´s license or passport, write a request on the photocopy for a SSR for whatever five-year period I wish it to apply to, and send it in with a check for $8. Turnaround time a week or so.

I had my son and daughter sign a letter that they have known me for more than 10 years and that I was not currently married or living in union with another person. I had it notarized, certified and apostilled. It was translated in Cali. I didn't think one was necessary for a fiance visa.

I am applying for a fiancee visa.
We plan to marry in the states.I have been told I need this form for the visa.

Actually when I did a K1 visa for my future ex-wife from Peru we did not
need one. But I think two family members writing a letter stating you are
sigle and having them certified should do it.

I haven't seen a physical "Certificate of Singlehood" form. If you read the fine print on the Colombian Consulate website, you'll see that you need a sworn statement from two people who have known you for longer than 10 years... The document(s) need to state that to the best of these individuals knowledge, you are not married... The documents then need to be signed, notorized, translated & aspostilled...

Also, you'll need translated, authenticated & apostilled copies of you divorce decree. This is not your divorce settlement document, but the divorce decree issued by the Civil Court Records Department in the jurisdiction where your divorce was filed and processed... It's a one pager that just states the who, what, where & when of your divorece, but it's issued by the court...

Since your going to the trouble to gather these documents, it doesn't hurt to get some extra copies just in case of emergency...
