Title: No Booze Post by: Traveller on October 21, 2003, 04:00:00 AM Just a heads up. All this week is Ley Seca. No booze or suds will be sold in any of the bars this week, until Friday, due to elections. I think you can go to the store and buy alcohol until 6PM, but I'm not really sure about that.

I checked with my sources in Cali and was informed that the only day booze wasn't available was Sunday. I posed this question weeks ago, suddenly there is a wealth of contradictory information. I will check again and report back, especially since I will be in town during that time. Title: All week? I thought that was just on election day itself. I think they even used to do it in the US.There was a tradition here where guys would go to a bar and let the politicians come by and try to buy their votes with drinks. But I'm sure you average Colombiano has planned ahead here. Last time I was in Cali there was a big soccer game.The local team one.They were partying all night and when the sun came up next morning. And just about every Monday is a holiday.No wonder their economy is in the toilet. Pete |
