Title: Top ten cities for singles Post by: zack on October 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM Well, I went to the website forbes.com and for those who are interested, here is what they ranked as the top ten best cities for singles to live:
1. Austin
I have a single female friend who lives in Denver who says it is great for single women, but not single men because the men outnumber the women and in her opinion, the women aren't very attractive (for the most part). Yet it ranked second. I cannot comment on any of this because I am originally from Chicago which didn't even make the top ten list. I felt that Chicago was difficult for a PICKY single man to live, despite the good night life. I appreciate any advice about this. If I can't talk my friends into going to Colombia, at it would be nice to at least advise them about where to go in America. Interesting list I guess. I have spent most of my adult life living in the Denver-Boulder area. I never really thought of it aa a heaven for singles. But maybe it is? It is true there are lots of things to do both winter and summer. If you are into it, the club scene is booming. However, Boulder is called the "Peoples Republic of Boulder" because of its very liberal views much like Berkley. The singles are very much into the yuppy scene but with 4x4s and expensive bikes instead of BMWs. Cost of living is out of site in Boulder much like the overpriced housing in California. But it is a very nice place. After I got divorced, I dated a woman who worked as a real estate agent in Boulder. I got to know the Boulder scene fairly well. She had a set of girlfriends who were just like the girls on "Sex in the City". If that is what you want, go get them they are there. Knowing that they ranked Denver second, I was waiting for Denvermike's opinion. Thanks! Zack Title: Re: Top ten cities for singles Post by: DW1 on October 12, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Top ten cities for singles, posted by zack on Oct 11, 2003
I live just outside of Atlanta. Sure, it's a great place to be single if you're a BMW-driving, yuppie wanna-be. No offense intended to anyone here who drives BMW's. I joined a video dating agnecy in Atlanta some years ago. What a joke....not to mention a waste of money (over $1100), most the girls came off as players or gold diggers. One girl even stated in her ad: "To hell with your picture, send a copy of your bank statement." Aahhh...good 'ol materialistic American females....if that's what you want, they're here by the 100's in Atlanta. I bet there is a "however..." about every city in that list. Just like what Iswote said about Austin. It is a great place to live if you are YOUNG and single. That lady actually said that in her add?!? Either she was trying to be funny, or she is just plain dumb. Either way, she's a gold digger and pobably got NO responses. Your description of the ladies in Atlanta is probably also true of Las Angeles. All American cities have a lot of gold-diggers, but I bet LA and Atlanta are among the top. Thanks. Your information is appreciated. I went to a party a few years ago in Los Angeles. I started to have a conversation with an average looking woman. She asked me what I did for a living. She responded I only want to meet a medical doctor and walked away. |
