Title: Starting over ...
Post by: A1A on October 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM
Things have crashed and burned with my novia from Guadalajara.  I'm still trying to figure out how I went from being 'papacito lindo" three weeks away from vacation with her, to "we need to talk about our relationship", two weeks from vacation, to "I can't do a long distance relationship anymore", the night before we were to meet in Cancun.  So after a week in Margaritaville, it is time to move on and make a trip to Cali in December or January.  I gotta go where it's warm, Bogota may have more women in the 30's age group I'm looking, but I have a better feeling about Cali.  Adios Mexico, time to see another part of the world.

Title: Unlucky with Mexicanas

I had a similar experience with a tall, attractive model/student from Monterrey I got to know via TLC. We had a pretty good rapport over the phone, and after numerous Emails & converstions, I accepted her offer to come visit for Thksgvg weekend 2yrs ago. She promised me she would refuse any modeling jobs that weekend.

A couple days before the trip, her mom tells me she's out of town on a modeling job. When I finally reached her, she said she couldn't turn down the job. It was just in time to reschedule my trip for December. A week later, she tells me she was planning to visit friends in Texas in December. Fine, I tell her, we can meet in Texas. No can do, she says. How about first week in Janury? Sure. Two weeks later: No, she's planning on visiting Argentina & couldn't possibly reschedule that trip.

After rescheduling my trip 3 times, I finally gave up and ate the $400 plane ticket. I gently tried informing her that she had been a selfish brat about the whole thing, but she never accepted responsibility. She recently messaged me with excited plans to marry a fellow Mormon she met in Utah. When I responded politely but cooly, she asked me "Is something wrong?" Still doesn't get it. Mucha suerte to her clueless hubby.

I've known 100s of Mexican ladies in my classes. They're nice, but I prefer Central Americans: less conservative & clannish. But nothing beats Colombian ladies for physical beauty, education, & warm, happy personality.

As for the Monterrey brat, it was a fatal combo of immaturity, selfishness & the high socio-economic level/high maintenance ratio.

In any case, traveling overseas to meet just one lady is a real crapshoot. Agencies with a selection of ladies are far better.

Sounds like she got a better offer, or you didn't come through with enough money for her mother, grandmother, sister, etc,

Better to find out now

I think you are right, probably a better offer.  Things went south too fast, and she told me a couple times the girl from mex. matchmakers kept calling her to see if she was interested in receiving emails from other guys.

Title: A1A-Did you use Mexican Matchmakers?

I've heard Terry had to move due to problems with town officals. I haven't heard much since-What's going on. Also I understand there is a much better selection of mujeres ib Colombia-but since you haven't been to Colombia-Was there a large selection fo attractive Mexican mujeres with MM? Are the women in Guadalajara more beautiful than the average Mexican or is this propaganda?

Z, yes I used mexican matchmakers.  They are operating now, Terry's secretary is running the show.  When I was there she did all the women contact work, she is a real nice girl.
She also kept in contact with my novia, they are good friends. MM has a good number of attractive women in their books, more than on the website. As far as the general population goes, from observations at the malls, airports, etc, there seemed like more attractive women in GDL as compared to Mexico City, but Cancun is equal, a lot of attractive girls that can speak english go there to make better money in the hotels, restaurants and nightclubs.
For me, it is a time for a change, after reading this board for a long time, Colombia is very appealing right now.

Title: At first I looked more to Mexico, but now Colombia!

At first I was more inclined to look in Mexico for a potential spouse for three reasons. I'm more familiar with Mexican, it's closer, and especially the fact that 6 month tourist visas are available fairly easily(per my understanding) to Mexican Nationals. Six monthes is more time to catch a mistake in compatibility than 3 months. I would HATE to go through another divorce, and I have definately made mistakes with the female gender in the past! But after many months reading posts on this board I now beieve Colombia is the best bet in spite of the above mentioned drawbacks.

Sometimes it just honestly doesn't work out. Maybe she found another guy, maybe the waiting and/or seperation got to her, maybe she just didn't feel you were the one for her, or maybe she just got cold feet. I suspect the last minuteness (is that a word?) of letting you know just before the trip was her conscience fighting over 'at least take the free vacation' vs. 'don't stick that poor man for an expensive trip if you're going to ditch him anyway'. If you want to try Mexico again, I recomend Veracruz or Mexico City, but neither has any agencies that I'm aware of. If you need an agency, try one of the other cities the guys suggested.

Actually, looking back I am glad she did it before the trip, it could have made for a bad situation there.  I've heard Vera Cruz is a good place to visit, but Colombia is next.  I've been to Mexico city, no mas, gracias.  Thanks for the kind words guys.

If the girl I know from Veracruz is any indication, you need to go there.

Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes...

Sorry about the "Smokin' hole in the ground"...

Lick your wounds and get back in the saddle...

Cali can be cool, but I did not find many serious ladies there... Just my experience...

For more grounded ladies in the 30+ group, I would try Bogota... Check out Nelson's website at Latin Intro...

Damm, well that kind of sucks. did she give any reasons as to why the change? i would look at other cities besides cali. barranquilla, medellin, cartagena, or lima in peru.there is a new agency in ecuador that looks good. keep your options open and research where you want to go. cali has a lot of YOUNG girls.

Sorry to hear about that. Personally speaking, I'm sure you'll like Colombia a lot better. As Zack just said, "good luck to you." Take care.
