Title: Colombian maps Post by: zack on September 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM One of the most useful websites, at least to me, since the invention of the internet is "Mapquest.com"
Is there a similar site for Colombian cities? Zack Title: Re: Colombian maps Post by: jim c on September 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Colombian maps, posted by zack on Sep 11, 2003
For Cali a detailed street map is available at LA 14 for about $2.00. In Cartagena there is one sold in the bookstores for about $3.00 jimc Title: Re: Colombian maps Post by: Freddie on September 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Colombian maps, posted by zack on Sep 11, 2003
Try as I might I have never found a GOOD map of the cities in Colombia online. I do have a very detailed map of Cali (it's so detailed you can barely read the small type) that was given to me at the Pacifico Royal Hotel. I think it came from the tour desk in the hotel and was put out by a gasoline company. I did find some online maps of Cartagena once so I know they exist. The best suggestion I can make is do a search on a specific site or hotel in the city you're looking at and see if they have a map connected to their web site. It won't be all incompassing but it might get your around. Also check the tourist web site and Google.com Title: Re: City maps Post by: cancunhound on September 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Colombian maps, posted by Freddie on Sep 11, 2003
Online for Cali anyway, you can get a .pdf download for each comuna - basically what the city uses as a base for utilities and such - extemely detailed and if you wanted you could easily print each comuna in sections and tape together to form a huge map (but it would take up an entire wall!), be a great project for the kids. They're available at the city's website - I would think Bogota and Medellin would have a similar service - Cartagena didn't have any content on their site. But for manageable full size maps it's better to get the "gas station" type when down there, or have your novia send you one. paginasamarillas.com used to have a similar feature, but took the direct link away. You can still access it via backdoor - go to the site and search for a landmark item like "unicentro" in Cali, click the map location button to get map, then navigate from there. There's another one out there but the name's not ringing a bell right now. |
