Title: DS-230 question
Post by: wizard on May 13, 2003, 04:00:00 AM

My wife and I just had our first interview to the US Embassy in Bogota last week... During the visit, they asked for many documents, which we had prepared in advance... They asked for the DS-230 for my wife, but not for mine... After the interview, we were given packet 3 & 4 and they scheduled my wife's second interview 21 days later...

The information in packet 3 & 4 stated that they wanted my DS-230 at the second interview... I thought, no problem, since I already had it prepared... Well, here's the rub... In section 2 of the DS-230, it clearly states that they want my signature to be witnessed by a US Consular...

Does this mean that I HAVE to be present for the second interview??? All other information stated that I didn't have to be there for the second interview... I don't mind going back to Bogota, but after recent posts about delays because of security clearances I really don't want to travel all the way back to Bogota just to be told that my wife can't get her Visa until her security clearance arrives... Especially since her second interview is only 21 days after the first interview...

Any ideas guys???

Thanks in advance...

Mark

When I did the DS-230 in February you could either have the signature witnessed by a consular or notorized by a notary in the US. Are you sure having it notorized isn't an option?

You are right.  I pulled the photo copies of my stuff and I had this one notarized here before I left.

Part 2 of the DS-230 has a space for a signature and a place marked where the consular must witness and sign too...

I think I may print another copy and have it notarized here in the US, then Fedex it to Francy just in case...

But from what Hiker stated, he didn't even do a DS-230 for himself...

Don't you just love consistent service!!!

Thanks
