Title: test driving Post by: snap38 on May 14, 2003, 04:00:00 AM I have been reading posts for a couple months now. I am thinking of getting involved with a lady from Colombia. I dont speak a lick of Spanish. But this is a burning question for me. When some of you veterans do a lot of visiting in Colombia, and dating many of the beautiful women there, Do you test drive the product. I am trying to be nice in the way of saying it. But I see many of you will date multiple times every day while there. Are the ladies willing to do this, or is there a cultural thing about not doing it. A religious reason. By the way my comment about not speaking a lick of Spanish is not relevant to my question.

Snap38, Good Q, but it's just like anyplace else; it all depends on the girl and her values. Cali definitely has a very sensual/sexual energy to it. You can feel it when you're out, but don't confuse tight and skimpy dress and sensuality with promiscuity. Some will, some won't. On a side note, do try to at least learn some basic spanish to introduce yourself, it'll score big points and help build rapport. Not only that, it will usually get you a beautiful smile. and be careful using spanish that could have bad sexual interpretations, example: we may use 'hot' to tell a gal in the US that her dress is 'hot' - nothing wrong with that usually. Now you may pick up your spanish calculator and get hot translates to "caliente" and try the equivalent conversion - be prepared to get slapped! also watch out using the verb excitar, like you might want to tell someone you are excited to be coming to Cali or excited to see them. It has a definite sexual connotation. Better to use the verb emocionar (estoy emocionado)or alegrarse (me alegro). That just really depends on the gal and the guy. There really is no prevalent "religious" barrier - Colombians are catholic but not necessarily "devout". |
