I am currently looking at Bogota as the place to go in my search... any info/suggestion as to which agency(ies) are the best or any recommendations from those who have been would be very welcome.  Good luck to all!

I was in Bogota twice in 1999.  I stayed in a nice apartment run by this agency:

I was in the agency several times but I was not actually a member.  I had already met some ladies through South of the Border which is a correspondence agency with no office in Colombia.  I don't recommend letter-writing anymore, but that's another topic.

Anyway, the agency has a small office near Unicentro (I think) and the owner is a very nice older lady who rented me the apartment.  I saw a few of their members and they were attractive women.  Very low-key operation.  I don't know their price.

I paid about $40 a night for a nice two bedroom apartment with a little bit of hot water.  I would stay there again, but I hope I never go back to Bogota.  It's like a third-world New York.  I'm not a "big city" type person, although Dallas is pretty big.  Cali is more like a third-world Dallas, and I would go back to Cali.

Nevertheless, Bogota, with 8 million people, has a lot of beautiful women looking to meet a foreign husband.  More than will ever find one.  Like they said in Top Gun, you'll be in a "target rich environment".

When was the last time the owner updated the pictures and information on this site? I've checked it a number of times over the past year--it never changes. Another marketing genius in the MOB business.

You have to realize that if some agencies updated the website pictures and information, they would go "out of business".

I noticed that.  She did have an active business when I was there 4 years ago.  I can't say what has happened since then.  If a man is considering using her agency it would probably be best to visit first and look around before making any deals.

I'm sure you'll like Bogota. I was there in March for the first time and fell in love with the place. My current gal lives in Cartagena but her family are in Bogota and I'm looking forward to the day we'll go there together to visit.

As for agencies, look through the recent archives for my trip report. In the last one I give my impressions of the agency I used, Odee. I think of the four agencies wizard mentioned are all fine as far as reputation, reliability and trustworthiness, but there are some differences among the types of services offered and the clientele they cater too. Depending on your age, the type and age of woman you seek and the amount of money you want to spend, you may find that one agency fits the bill more so than the others.

Hey JR,
I was thinking of ODEE, however, their website is a bit slim as far as numbers of ladies, and attractiveness of the ladies.... maybe I am Cali-biased?!
How has been your experience? - I believe you used Odee....
Overpriced?  Eager to help?  Enthusiasm of the ladies, to meeting, etc?  Your opinion would be helpfull....

I had a great experience with Odee. William and Angela are trustworthy and Angela will set up meetings for you until you are blue in the face. They do not do tours but prefer a more intimate, personal approach. They do their best to insure the ladies are reputable, educated and interested in marraige, not the player types at all. They are not perfect and I am sure some duds slip through the cracks. William and Angela are both very helpful and will do as much or as little for you as you wish. I thought the prices were immanently fair. I spent much less money with them than if I'd done a tour.

I chose them because the seem to have a more mature, educated clientele and that's what I was after. Most of the women are in the 27-37 age range I'd guess. Sure, they don't have the numbers some of the other agencies post (I think the total number of ladies is in the high 200's) but I think that is largely because they are a bit more selective. I also get the impression that they don't aspire to be another LAI. They have a niche and that's what they are content to do. All the ladies I met were wonderful and very happy to meet with you. You may already know this, but trust me when I tell you that these ladies (and this goes for ANY agency) are a lot more attractive in person than in the photos. Yes, yes, I know that some would clearly stop mud in mid-air, but I thought that overall the Odee ladies' appearances were just fine. Especially when compared to the choices here! But I may be a bit less particular in that arena, who eff'ing knows. Muy subjectivo, eh?

Keep in mind also that my approach was to establish contact first, give a date certain when I'd be in Bogota and select a few to meet while there. I placed my profile with them and got tons of responses. I think that which agency you chose is a strong function of what you are after in a woman and how you wish to go about this process. If you are after numbers and you prefer meeting tons of women in a single social setting, Odee is not the place to go. However, if like me, you prefer a more personal approach where you can spend a little more one on one time with a women, I think Odee is an excellent choice. As an aside, at about the same time, I placed an internet profile with LAI as well and got many responses from the ladies there. Internet profiles are relatively inexpensive when compared to a tour so keep in mind you aren't limited to just one agency. If you go the route I did, that is.

And that has been discussed here ad infinitum. No, make that ad nauseum. There are basically two approaches: write first or just go. There is no correct answer. It depends entirely on the person involved and each method has its own merits/pitfalls. With either of the two methods, there are plenty here who have experienced success. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE which works best for you then take the bull by the horns. The biggest impediment most face is the taking the bull by the horns part. I think you won't have that problem, though.

Welcome aboard Richardo...

Hiker is correct in that LAI (Latin American Introductions) is one of the better known agencies in Bogota and has a good reputation... I met my novia through LAI, so I am a little biased in my opinion... Other agencies in Bogota are Odee, South of the Border and Latin Life Mates... There are probably more, but they escape me now...

From my experience, LAI is the best overall agency in Colombia... This comment is based upon several trips to Cali and Bogota... I'm sure others will disagree...

I second LAI.  I met my wife there at the end of September and we were married in February.  You will get good service there.

Ricardo welcome aboard.  I did not go to any of the agencies in Bogota.  When I went to Bogota to do the DCF filing at the US Embassy I changed my mind about Bogota.  Before I went I had a negative view of Bogota.  I think you are making a wise choice to focus on Bogota.  

You might search the archives in this forus for Bogota and read some of the posts.  I know nothing first hand but I do remember reading postitive post about one agency there.  I believe it was called LAI.  There is another that was more of just a middle man outfit with what some people felt were questionable ethics.

OnePHD who posts here sometimes is at LAI in this moment I believe.  I am sure he will post a full report when he returns.

Hiker, thanks for the welcome.  I've been 'lurking' for some time, have been to Cali, but wanted to venture further, as it were.  I,too, heard some negatives about Bogota and the women (more conservative, older, snobbish), as well as positives (better educated and employed, and more mature).  Frankly, I have yet to prove or disprove these notions.  Yes, I agree wherever, and whenever I find 'the one' the city then would not matter.  I suppose it just a question of trying to focus on the most productive 'hunting ground'.... well, I am soon to find out as I head to Bogota in the next few months.  I am looking at LAI, like their website, but wondering about ODEE - yes I know JR n Atl  has posted about it, so that agency would also be worth my checking into.... Good luck to all!
