Title: Fare Alert... Post by: wizard on April 06, 2003, 05:00:00 AM [This message has been edited by wizard]
I just checked Continental for reservations from Houston (IAH) to Bogota (BOG) for later this month... It is a direct flight, no layover... The fare is usually around $575, as I take this route once a month... This morning the fare has more than doubled, going to $1271... I called Continental to get an explanation and I was told it was a "fare adjustment"... For my money it's an "unfair adjustment"... Oh well, looks like I'll be flying AA and going through Miami this time as Continental just lost my business... Just thought I'd pass this along for those planning trips to Bogota that may have been using this route... Title: Re: Fare Alert... Yes - AA has raised the rate as well - from Dallas, you're looking at about a grand right now. You can still get there affordably if you don't mind connections and change of airlines - Lacsa, the Costa Rican airline, for $380, connecting in San Jose and Bogota, will get you from MIA to Cali. DFW to MIA is $229 direct on AA, a little less on Continental but not worth the extra stop in IAH. So, you can still get it for about $600 with some legwork. Title: Re: Fare Alert... Continental fked me on my last trip to the phils, No wonder the airlines are going broke, overseas travel is down by more than half, if not more since the war jitters etc, so the old theory of supply and demand in reverse when a moron is in charge, Demand is waaaaaaaaay down, what do the almost bankrupt airlines do.? Raise prices..........that should bring in the customers, LOL |
