Title: Easy to reach places for Colombians Post by: Kit on February 17, 2003, 05:00:00 AM Folks,
Thinking about taking a girl on a little vacation trip for a couple of weeks. So from Cali what vacation destinations (outside Colombia) are most easily accessible to Colombians. I was thinking about Dominican Republic, Cuba or Costa Rica. Anybody travelled to those destinations from Colombia? Any (Colombian) travel agencies web sites I can look at? [This message has been edited by Cali vet] For my trips from Cali I use the Comfenalco travel agency (in Cali) T:8862686. Ask for Angela Maria. She's always gotten me the best prices. I was looking into the same question and there are packages to all the places you mentioned. Cuba was the most expensive and Panama was the cheapest. I ended up picking Capurgana in Colombia. We leave Monday for a week. http://www.comfenalcovalle.com.co/recreacion/recreacion.html Title: Re: Easy to reach places for Colombians Post by: mudd on February 17, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Easy to reach places for Colombians, posted by Kit on Feb 17, 2003

I've taken my fiancee twice to Aruba (but now i think you need a visa, but i hear it's not hard to get), and we went to the Dominican Republic. The visa for the DR was easy to get through the mail. No trip to Bogota necessary. Aruba is much nicer if you can afford it, but i found some great colombian restaurants with great food there with reasonable prices. Also found a great hotel for about $65/night (The Mill) across the street from the beach. Also I recommend the Phoenix Aruba. These properties have full apartments with kitchens and all. Of course you can always go to Panama, but i really didn't find it that beautiful near the capital. no good beaches and I'm a beach person. good luck! What a small world. I stayed at The Mill Resort in July. The one-eyed owner kept trying to hit on my wife. There are some photos of Aruba on my website if anyone is interested. http://www.stevegaines.net/ Steve Title: Re: Aruba Post by: rob4050 on February 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Aruba, posted by DallasSteve2 on Feb 19, 2003
Hi Steve You make a good looking couple. When you said that you had a 28 year old wife in your earlier post, you could have said it better by saying that you have a beautiful 28 year old wife! congrats! Thanks, Rob, she is beautiful. But if you're going to an agency in Colombia you should know that there are many beautiful women like her who will be chasing after you. Don't loose your perspective on the situation. Thanks Steve, from what I've read and hearing your admonition, it is more than easy to lose perspective. I am really trying to narrow down (be true to myself if you will) what it is that I offer to a woman, and what type of woman would I be attracted to. So far: Physically...I have to admit I like long hair and straight teeth and someone petite. I am built a lot like you from what I can see from your photos, and still have all my hair so maybe I can attract that dream lady. I do know that looks are important, but are not everything. I once had a lady who worked for me that was absolutely stunning physically, but oh my was she a dud mentally. It got to the point that I couldn't stand her, and when another manager wanted her, I transferred her with great relief. That said, I do know that for me, I really desire a person who has a good head on her shoulders. Am I dreaming here? Title: On Target... "Thanks Steve, from what I've read and hearing your admonition, it is more than easy to lose perspective." Oh how right you are... Perspective is a function of the big head, as the little head only has one perspective... Don't let a pretty face sway you from what you know is the type of girl you're looking for... I have witnessed many men fall into this trap, only to waste time and money on someone that might tempt the loins, but not the mind... Don't waste too much time on a latina that you KNOW it's not going to work, regardless of reason... Ok, I've been there too... It's WAY to easy to do... Most of us do not have the luxury of spending extended periods of time in LA in this pursuit... So time and effort are important... Use both wisely... That's why I say not to let the POB factor take over... Your wish list for the traits you're searching for are more than realistic... You're "So Far" list reads like you've already met a few latinas... Many of these ladies have to struggle to survive, so you will find many ladies that are mature, resourceful and receptive to a respectful man... Ok, Steve shared some photos, so I thought I would too... www.micronetics.net/mdp As you can see, there's NO need to compromise... Your's is out there... Now go get her!!! wizard Title: Re: On Target... Post by: rob4050 on February 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to On Target..., posted by wizard on Feb 21, 2003
Okay...wow! Thank you for the advice and sharing your photos. You and Steve are amazing and both of you seem to be very happy with your choices. And...like Steve's wife, Francy is very lovely. Actually I've not met any latinas since I have become interested in looking, but I must have read almost everything on this forum! People here have given some very helpful information that is for sure. I agree with your comments on the time and effort. Honestly, if I had spent the same amount of time and effort looking in LA as I have here, well, never mind!! I have to say, it has been expensive and not so fun in most cases. Thanks again! Rob Title: Re: Re: On Target... Post by: wizard on February 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: On Target..., posted by rob4050 on Feb 21, 2003
Thanks for the compliments Rob... Like you, I had my "list" of requirements before I started going to LA... It took 5 trips and meeting over 100 latinas before I met my girl... We both knew instantly that we were meant to be together... It only gets better the more time we spend together... I was in Bogota last week and popped the question on Valentine's Day... We will be married in May... Once you've overcome your paralysis of analysis and climb down off the fence, you won't be sorry... It's kinda like the film Matrix... Take the red pill or take the blue pill... Once you do though, there's no turning back... Once you've begun dating latinas you will never go back to AW... Buen suerte... wizard Title: Re: Re: Re: On Target... Thanks for sharing the photos. Maybe we should start a thread asking others if they have photos to share. It is very interesting to see other couples. Those are some nice shots of Bogota, too. Your fiancee is very beautiful. No compromise there. The best photo in my opinion is the home page photo with her big smile. She's not smiling in her portrait shots. I suggest you tell her to smile when you take her pictures. She looks dazzling when she smiles. Good luck. Steve Title: Re: Photos Post by: wizard on February 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Photos, posted by DallasSteve2 on Feb 21, 2003
Thanks Steve... I like the idea of starting a photos thread... Some folks here are a little leary to share photos though... Awhile back one person had their photos lifted from a web page and used in a scam campaign for a latin call girl service... Francy is something else... You're right, she is much cuter when she smiles, which she does all the time in real life... I guess she was in a serious mood when she had her portrait shots done... When I first saw the photo on the home page, I knew what I had to do... Nothing like a candid shot like that one to reveal someone's personality... We were dancing on New Year's Eve when that one was taken... Buen suerte... wizard Title: Re: Re: Photos Post by: Ralph on February 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Photos, posted by wizard on Feb 21, 2003

Rob If you treat them like a gentleman there's no doubt you can find what you're looking for there. If you don't choose wisely you can also find the wrong type of woman. Your chances of success will be much greater if you can spend more time with the woman you are considering. While you are meeting several women a longer trip is an advantage. After you find the one you are looking for shorter, but more frequent trips will suffice. It's expensive, but if you try to do everything in one week in a foreign country and then nurture a relationship long-distance by email and phone, your odds for success decline. I didn't do much more than that (I made two trips to Colombia of about one week each then a trip to Aruba) but then we had over two months together here on the K1 visa. Under the circumstances I think the K1 visa is wiser than marrying a woman you barely know. Thanks again Steve. From what I've been able to glean here, the K-1 is probably best for my needs. I can take some time as my job is more flexible than many and could even do a short leave of absence, but I don't have unlimited resources either. As far as treating the women in a gentlemanly fashion, I think I can be okay there. In fact, that very thing has caused me no end of pain here with some of the AW I've met. You've been very helpful and I really appreciate that. And now, I just need to decide which city to go to! Thanks. That's her. She likes to dress sexy. She thinks the clothes in the US are boring. I have to take her to specialty stores to find tight, short skirts. She said the Latinos who work at our apartments tell her I must be a very happy man. I am. Why--because of all the Latin American countries outside of South America the Ticos are closest in resembling thier culture to that of Colombia. Very good spoken Castillian Spanish, diversity in its people (criollos, mestizo, negro, mullato, zambo, native) beautiful women love of life and party, great jokers, humors...plus many Colombians going thier to set up businesses that are too hard or money losing in Colombia (import/export, restuarants, discos)--many people think the Colombians are somehow ruining the peaceful nation of Costa Rica--but not suprising none of my Tico friends has ever said this (oh and like Colombians, very frank and up-front) I have heard that stereotype about Colombians in Costa Rica from Latinos other than Ticos Title: Costa Rica = visa for Colombians Post by: DallasSteve2 on February 18, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to dude choose Costa Rica, posted by colman on Feb 17, 2003
My fiancee (now wife) and I looked at Costa Rica. Now they require a visa for Colombians. As I remember you have to wait about 4 weeks to get the visa and then it's only good for about 4 weeks so you have to wait to make plans and then scramble to get all of your reservations. They definitely aren't promoting tourism from Colombia. But other than that I would like to see Costa Rica. I know you said outside Colombia, but I just got back from my honeymoon in San Andres/Providencia, Colombia which are two Caribbian islands about 90 miles off the coast of Nicaragua and 500 miles north of Colombia. It cost about $1000 for airfaire for 2 from Bogota plus the hotel for 6 days. My wife got the package at a travel agency in Bogota. They were very nice for the price. I went to san andres too and it was nice. We paid $150/person round trip airfare from Cartagena and then stayed at a fabulous property called Pine Point. We rented a large modern one bedroom apartment with a great bay view for 100 pesos a night. ($38). I would go back again. |
