Title: Info needed on BAQ, Columbia tour Post by: Romello on February 01, 2003, 05:00:00 AM What's up brothers, If you are a guy going through BS in a man's life, dirvorce, dating the wrong women, and job related stress, then you are a brother.
Anyway, I've put down my deposit for a trip on a tour to BAQ. I've gotten the skinny on the trip from the company, now I would like info from you. I'm going with "I Love Latins", and I've seen the videos. What have you experenced on this trip. A sex tour or romance, either way is alright, but I would like to know first hand. Hey, if you can help, please do. I have been to Barranquilla more than a few times, as I was married to a girl from there. The town itself is more or less a $h*thole, in my opinion. A very industrial-port type town. Not too clean, not a lot of sites of cultural significance like Cartagena, Bogota, or Medellin. I have met Sam Smith before. I don't have a beef with him, but alot of guys I know who have been on one of his tours would not pay again! Robert Frank's agency there has a much better reputation. The word about BQ is there have been alot of tours there over the last 2 years, and it's supposedly getting 'gringoed out'. It used to be seen as an overlooked town. Not anymore. I was looking into this. I've been to Ukraine & will be going back however I'm half Latino so I was thinking perhaps going over to Colombia. I saw some VERY nice girls on that page so I thought I check it out. Speaking Spanish obviously would help a lot however I just don't know as much about Colombia as I do of Ukraine. Any help is appreciated. So who is this other guy or agency I ougth to check out? Title: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... Bob and Maria Del Carmen Franks' agency is www.classycolombianladies.com. Their phone is 57 5 344 2420. Title: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... Post by: JunFan on February 02, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to What if I'm NOT a gringo?!..., posted by Frank O on Feb 2, 2003
I think Robert Frank's deal is called Classy Colombian Ladies...not sure, I never went the agency route so I'll defer to the archives. When I said 'gringoed' out, that doesn't just refer to anglos...I'm talking about all types of foreigners that come to Colombia looking for wives. If you speak Spanish, that's obviously a huge advantage. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can't imagine how people think they can have a successful relationship without communication skills. Some dude hunched over a laptop with translation software is a case in point. But, on this board and others, you will find guys trying to rationalize how they will somehow be an exception. Good luck, http://www.sparhard.com/colombia.htm Title: Thanks I'l check it out.NT Post by: Frank O on February 03, 2003, 05:00:00 AM Title: Re: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... I have to agree with you junfan. I am a Colombian born, fluent spanish speaking American citizen who often times has trouble CLEARLY communicating with my wife. I cannot imagine what the rest of you must feel, when the communication link gets broken. Title: Re: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... Good point about the communication skills. I speak spanish but I wouldn't consider a woman that didn't speak any english. After all, she'll have to be able to assimilate here if a relationship is going to survive. Title: Re: Re: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... ...I have ever heard. So, you mean to tell me that one should expect a Colombiana to have any sort of command of the English language in the time it takes to get a Visa, which is maybe 6 mos on the outside? Get real. Anyone who follows this advice is cruisin' for a bruisin'. agreed....my girlfriend teaches english at a private school in Ibague...and sometimes our conversations are a struggle. There are some colombianas with basic english skills though..if i were searching this would be one of the things on my list. It can take years to achieve fluency. For those who have studied Spanish, you'll know how much work it takes to learn a language. Learning English is harder than learning Spanish. I wouldn't expect a woman to speak English well when she arrives even if she is enrolled in classes while waiting for the paper work. That's a short time span compared to the total amount of work required to learn English well. The key is her motivation and work ethic. Not only will studying Spanish help you to communicate better, it will also give you a more realistic idea of what it takes to learn a foreign language. Title: Good Point... [This message has been edited by wizard] Good point Patrick... Until you have tried to learn a foreign language, never underestimate the difficulty of this process... My novia has been studying Ingles for five years, has spent a year in the US and still has some problems communicating... Basic conversation is no problema, but more detailed or complex conversations move quickly over her head... It's can actually be a means to bond with your novia if looked upon as a challenge... My novia helps me with my espanol and I help her with Ingles... We help each other, therefore building a closer bond between us... As you said, motivation is the key... wizard Title: Re: Re: Re: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... Where did you find classes this cheap? My girlfriend said the classes were much more expensive that this (she lives in Bogota). Title: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What if I'm NOT a gringo?!... [This message has been edited by Michael B] I guess everybody's watching the space shuttle is why you don't have an answer yet. Well, I've never been to Barranquilla nor that agency. It is however, the same agency as 'Barranquilla Beauties'. Look for them in the archives search, about a year ago there was quite a controversy about them---read it for yourself. BTW 'sex tour' is kind of a forbiden (or at least frowned upon) word here, using it won't make you any friends...since you're new, I'm just letting you know, not 'down on you'. Personally, I hope you have a good trip and meet a nice lady or three. Some advice? DON'T get engaged on the tour, if you find one you really like, get to know her via phone and email (and another trip in two or three months if you can swing it financially) first. Do you speak Spanish? Even a little? If you do it's a big help (not that guys who can't speak it haven't found a good woman, some of them have) Say, you making any money running a truck out of Houston? I have an owner/driver friend in Houston who's having trouble keeping loaded, got any leads for him? Well, welcome to the 'quest' and good luck to you. Go to forum search (to the left of these messages), select Latin Board, in the search phrase type barranquilla or (use the quotes) "barranquilla beauties". Then of course, click search. When you find one that looks promissing, click on it, if it is 'paydirt', click on 'view entire thread'. The jist of the problem was some guy kept posting "I went to BqB and had a great time, the other agencies in that city suck"...did this like 20 times, Patrick eventually banned him. He may or may not have been the owner of that agency, I don't know, read them and decide for yourself. Besides that thread, I'm almost certain there are other posts about this agency, probably some good, some bad. Again, read them and decide for yourself---I have no first hand experience with this agency. Title: Thanks I'll do that! What's up Michael, Thanks for the info. Today I put the down payment. However, I could not really be happy about it because of the shuttle. I've been glued to the news all day. Well, I'm going to BAQ and I hope to have a lot of fun. However, for now, trucks are for me. I own my own truck and I'm looking to buy another in June. Tell your friend to try Getloaded.com or DAT services. you can find DAT in any truck stop. Just call the number and get the load. He would need a reffer trailer to get the good ones. Or he can just get leased on with a good company. I prefer Heartland Express. Good runs, light load mostly, and quite a few miles. I got 3426 just last week. Hey I like talking trucks, but I thought this site is for women :). No worries my friend. My truck is in the shop right now but I'll be out of here next week. Stay up Mike!!! Later Title: Thanks Post by: Michael B on February 02, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Info needed on BAQ, Columbia tou..., posted by Romello on Feb 1, 2003
[This message has been edited by Michael B] I sent him an email and told him your leads. He's a Mexican (legal, thank you very much) and only has about a year in the business--he did great for 6 or 7 months, then everything just dried up all of a sudden. Oh, Latin women, sorry. Well, I don't know, already told you not to get engaged on the first trip, what else? Take lots of pictures, you and the lady, lots of ladies, but just you and ONE lady in each picture (be sure to keep a camera log so you know which picture is which lady). The reason for this is you will need at least one (preferbly 3 or 4) pictures of you and the lady together when you apply for her visa. The reason I say several ladies is your #1 at the party may turn into #0 after you get to know her, and "Miss oh yeah, she was at the party too, but I was too busy with #1" might just send you an email after you get home, and you answer her and one thing leads to another and then you'll be darned glad you have the pictures when you decide SHE is the one you want to sponsor. What else? I didn't go the tour route, I did the WOVO (write one, visit one) method, although I'll have to admit that I had to WO about 4 or 5 times before I got around to visiting any, and (lucky for me) the one I did visit was just perfect, we're currently waiting for her visa. Anyway, (so the guys who have gone on tours say, and it seems to make good sense to me) some of the girls are just party goers, hey, nice party, free food, free drinks, gingo takes you to a nice club, maybe even buys you some decient gifts, pretty good deal, but they have no intention of settling down, they'll be glad to spend all of this tour with you and all of next month's tour with John Smith. Others are really serious, so serious in fact that they will monopolize your time and you won't get the chance to talk to another lady you saw and were interested in. Conversly, there may well be 400 women, but 8 or 10 of them will be superstars and most of the guys will be falling all over them and the other ladies are being ignored.....a smart fellow has an open field with the ignored ladies (who BTW are still prettier than 99% of the availble women in Houston). Well, that's what I've heard...why not post a message like "First trip to SA, on a group tour, Help" and I'm sure some of the group tour guys will give you more tips. Oh, since I'm rambling, you will hear the term "Red Flag" a lot. If the lady does not seem to have a home address or phone or a job (or at least studying at a legit university or trade school), won't let you meet her parents (or children if she has any) things like that are red flags. Also, I'm not saying be a cheapskate, of course you'll spring for the dinner, tickets, night club, cabs (don't forget to give her enough for cab fare home if you don't drop her off there yourself, but cab fare is about $2.00 to $3.00US, not $20.00, take care of her, but don't be played). But if every date seems to involve really expensive resturants, shopping malls (with you buying sweaters, watches etc) and picking up the tab for her whole "gang" in a resturant or club, well, those are the infamous red flags.
