Title: Colombian violence
Post by: pablo on January 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM
I came across a couple articles about more recent violence in Colombia, mostly to the north of Bogota in San Carlos:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/2673309.stm

and further north, a mountain highway ambush in Bolivar province:

Even if not venturing out of the main cities, one needs to be very careful as noted in the previous post about the violence at BOG international.  I was surprised to find out while talking with an amiga earlier today (living in Bogota) that she did not hear about the attack that killed four people there.  Keep a heads up gentlemen when going south.

the FARC destroyed EVERY house La Union. Luckily, the residents were evacuated before FARC blew up their houses.

Interesting Calipro and I post similar threads regarding violence.  The polished con that was being played on him is another example of why it's important to be super careful.  Glad you were hurt or robbed.
