In November, incoming Colombian defense minister Marta Lucia Ramirez rescinded the military's policy of encouraging the country's Marxist rebels to defect by airdropping sexy photos implying that the depicted women were waiting for them upon their surrender. Said Ramirez, "I, as a woman, add myself to (the protests of this policy)." (The so-called FARC rebels, mostly men, are not allowed to have sex without permission of their commanders.) Sounds like political correctness may be creeping in the the Colombian governments strategy.Weird as it sounded it might have been a good idea to point out to young Colombianos what they were missing out there in the jungle,in terms they could understand. Hope they don't start using rubber bullets next. "We don't want to HURT anyone!" Sounds like shades of Pastrana "do that again and I am going to get really angry!!" Maybe he will get the peace prize in 20 years. There was a political cartoonist that used to do Jimmy Carter cartoons.Jeff McNalley was his name I think. One cartoon showed Jimmy in the white house with these Russian tanks on the front lawn.He is on the phone saying "that does it Leonid,you turkeys just blew your Pepsi franchise." But speaking of political correct stupidity,food for thought. Three guns could have stopped 9/11. 200 billion dollars and a few thousand lives later it appears this stupidity still prevails while we hold grandma up a couple hours while we search her luggage.
