Title: health insurance for colombian family Post by: cdrab on December 05, 2001, 05:00:00 AM I would like to set my mother in law up with some health insurance in Cali, this would also make my wife feel better about leaving her mother there. Has anyone set this up or have any information
Thanks Clint Title: Re: health insurance for colombian family Post by: DFWGuy on December 07, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to health insurance for colombian family, posted by cdrab on Dec 5, 2001
There is something in between the insurance you get if you work and the free care. My mother in law and brother in law have something which costs about 50,000 pesos per month. She is 50 and he is 18 and it seems to work fine for them. My wife is going to call and get the name, the telphone number, and the cost (remember it will probably vary as it does here but her mother does have high blood pressure). Colsanitas is one of the top health providers in Colombia. A little expensive compared to others, but you it's one of the best. www.colsanitas.com/medicina_prepagada_y_eps/colsanitas.html Title: Re: health insurance for colombian family Post by: Pete E on December 06, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to health insurance for colombian family, posted by cdrab on Dec 5, 2001
Clint, All colombians who work already have this health coverage.Very poor people can get free health care but the Service can be poor and if the issue is not life threatening you could wait along time.My father in law(health benefits because he is retired) needs cataract surgery. He is told the wait could be years. The other solution is private hospitals and doctors. If you have the money you can get first class service fast. For $500 my father in law can get the cataract surgery done anytime he wants.Do they sell insurance for this?Probably. You might have to have someone inquire down there.
