Title: Search Engine Error....
Post by: El Diablo on November 12, 2001, 05:00:00 AM

Patrick,

You may already be aware of this but the search engine is returning an error indicating it could not open a file.  This appears to be happening regardless of the search phrase.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I no longer get the unable to open files error messages, but I don't get any results returned.  For example, search the Russian board for terms like Rex, Go2Rus, FedEx, Dhl and MEEST.  My apologies in advance if these are legitimate null sets for hits.  (I know this isn't the Russian board, but I'm taking advantage of the existing thread.)

I haven't looked at the code in a while, but I believe all numerals are stripped before the phrase is actually searched for, so Go2Rus would be converted to GoRus. I found matches on DHL and FedEx in the Russian archives search.  Were you clicking back before the final search results came back?  It can be quite slow at times.

Tonight I got results for FedEx and DHL.  As I remember it, I got a not found message.  However, I could be mis remembering things.   It works now.  That's what matters.

It also happens regardless of the board searched.  I have tried searching all three (3) boards.  The error message I get is "Unable to open files".
