Beto, I don't know anything about Mexican Matchmakers as I did all of my own 'footwork', but a guy I met in GDL from Canada met his wife there. About ten years ago I bought an old book at a garage sale titled "How to retire in Paradise on $300 per month" It was about the Lake Chapala area of Mexico near the area that Randy G. is talking about. I was intrigued by the information although it was somewhat dated. That area has a large ex-pat population of American retirees. I have been to the Mexican Matchmakers site and was very impressed. My congrats to Randy G. for snagging a light-skinned, young and slender Latina wife. My question is is this: how does the courtship in Mexico differ from Colombia? I believe that Randy G. said that he spent A LOT of time there. There are some downsides to the Cali scene I am sure are giving a few men pause. One of the things that a lot of men lose sight of IMHO is that this process is not like plucking a desperate refugee off an embassy roof in Saigon and you are not likely to return there in the future. I, for one understand that there will be return trips to your bride's country to see family and that needs to be taken into account. Title: 'Mucho Tiempo'... ...sums up most Guadalajara area (Estado de Jalisco) women. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part, the women are very Catholic and very traditional. I would go so far to say that the majority of the beautiful, voluptuous and provocatively dressed Tapatias that you can see in El Centro or any malls are virgins. The girls in Guadalajara and especially the surrounding towns (where Gloria is from) still place a premium on remaining pure until they are married. They also are very concious about doing anything that might bring shame on themselves or their families. Let me reiterate, there are exceptions. You can find anything you want in Guadalajara as it is one of the most cosmopolitan cities on the continent and has 5,000,000 people living there. Things are changing as the sewer pipe of immorality keeps spewing into Mexico and beyond. Like Gloria told me the first time I met her (she thought I was looking for a chiquita) if you are a well intentioned, decent looking guy, you can go to the small towns in this region on Sundays. The girls walk one way, the boys the other; if you are interested, you can hand the girl a rose, and if she likes you, she MAY allow you to walk her home. Very innocent, very traditional and I think, somewhat refreshing in this day and age, to find girls this innocent and moral. I presume this differs from Cali, Colombia. Bottom line is, you need more time for most nice Mexican girls, but like I said before, relationships are started everyday there by hundreds of students, retirees, businessmen, etc., who live there or are vacationing there. You cannot believe the amount of middle and upper class gorgeous Mexicana's who travel to places like Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, etc. to vacation on Easter and during the summer. They are there to play, but if they meet a Canadian or USA guy (they seem to prefer Canadians, because Gringos have bad reputations and Canada is easy to visit for Mexicans) you cannot believe how long they will wait for his return. Guys on this forum: think outside the box a little. There are thousands and thousands of relationships started each day in Mexico and Latin America. I had a near experience with a agency in Guadalajara (TLC) and I thought the people involved in this were slimy to say the least. Anyway, good luck in your search. That would be a woman with yellow hair. Another word is "rubia", one with yellow/redish hair (what in English we would call "strawberry blonde". |
