Title: Immigration & customs process time in Miami Post by: Edge on September 12, 2001, 04:00:00 AM How long did it take to for the immigration and customs process in Miami for girlfriends(with K1 visa) and wives and first time visitors here?
I am trying to get an idea of how long I need to space the connecting flight here to Denver. The flight I would like to take is only 1-1/2 hours after my girlfriend lands in Miami, which is probably not long enough. It is also on Sunday, when many people travel. I think I have heard 2 hours as an average. Thanks in advance. I allowed about 3 1/2 hours when I went through in August...that was about right, it took us about an hour...no questions, it was just a matter of them getting to our packet, it took about 10 minutes for them to process our packet...Mike Title: Re: Immigration & customs process time in Miami Post by: briloop on September 12, 2001, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Immigration & customs process time i..., posted by Edge on Sep 12, 2001
I agree with H2-OH. I know of two Colombian ladies - one married a gringo in Colombia, and the other came in on a K-1 visa - were both detained by INS in Miami upon arrival. These two incidents occurred recently - within the last 2 months. The wife was detained for about 3 hours. INS asked her several questions, like how did you meet, how many children, etc. The fiancee had to wait an hour for INS to process the paperwork inside a packet given to her by the embassy in Bogota. I would allow about 2 to 3 hours to be safe. In light of the has happened, you may need more time. My 02cents H2-Oh |
