Title: living in Costa Rica Post by: Sol on September 12, 2001, 04:00:00 AM Hi,
This is a bit off topic but I'm curious to know if there are jobs, especially high tech jobs, for Americans in Costa Rica. My Colombian fiance and I have talked casually about living in Costa Rica. Assuming there's work and the cost of living is cheap it might be an interesting lark. We both speak Spanish and have heard that the quality of life is very high in Costa Rica. I'd be interested in pointers to information about Costa Rica on the Internet. I've looked around but not found anything very helpful. Thanks, Title: Re: living in Costa Rica Post by: acatman on September 14, 2001, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to living in Costa Rica, posted by Sol on Sep 12, 2001

My guess is that there is an American Chamber of Commerce in San Jose, Costa Rica. I also believe that Intel built a plant there. Unless you had a very special skill that was in demand, my guess is that you would need good Spanish Skills to get a job there. It is not a good idea to go to a third world country and look for a job. Lot's of educated people and low wages. Maybe a better idea to go there and hang up your own shingle -- maybe as a consultant to high tech industry. Good Luck, Jim |
