Juan, I'm sure Colombians want to kick Argentina's butt.(In soccer only of course, lol). Pete Title: They should play the Copa America every 4 years Post by: JUAN on July 17, 2001, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: According to Spanish TV News Broadca..., posted by Pete E on Jul 16, 2001
Or a year after a Copa Mundial or 2 years before a Copa Mundial.

The Argentinian's play great soccer though. I watched their Under 20 years (U20) team just blow away all competition in the World Championship a few weeks back. The Copa America has been loosing stature. The European club teams won't release their superstar players like Batistuta. What you end up with is battle between the giant club teams based in Europe and the National team. I think Brazil sent what is essentially a "B" team and Argentina sent nothing. Yeah, it's a watered down tournament this time. I was really disappointed in the performance of the US boys in Argentina for the WYC. Donovan, Beasley and Convey would have had a hard time even making the Argentinian team yet they have been hailed as the future of American soccer. We had a difficult time controlling mid-field in the two games I watched and our defenders looked lame. The U17s have their tourney soon. Check out Santino Quaranta, he's 16 and scored twice for DC United on Saturday. Let Argentina try a little American football and they will get their a-- handed to them.He hit me,he knocked me down! Can you immagine a skinny little Argentine guy going downfield with the ball when he gets leveled by a linebaker? I'm sure the Americans would kick the Argentinian's butt all over the field Pete, but then again who cares, we're about the only nation who even plays the game. (-: Now futbol (soccer) on the other hand is a real sport and the rest just silly little games.... When we were in the airport in Bogota we walked by this group off guys and my wife said it was the Colombian Football team.I told her when you walk by an american football team they don't look like your average group of guys. She saw this movie about American football,I forget the name,I think Gene Hackman was the coach, and got a little interested,so maybe I can get her to watch.I was telling her there is so much more the teams can do,plus its not just speed and skill its strength.See those guys up front? They are all over 300lbs.Then there are the hits where guys get separated from their helmets and cleats. Whole different game here. They would have to scrape those Argentines off the field when it was over.
