Title: Pharmacy visits in colombia.... Post by: Larry in Dallas on June 03, 2001, 04:00:00 AM Hola everyone:
Do you need to go see a doctor in colombia to get prescription medicine or can you buy drugs over the counter or is it similar Title: Re: Pharmacy visits in colombia.... I had one guest who ran out of his pain medicine, a very strong morphine derivative, and it was not available in the country. Most medicines are available over the counter: anti-biotics, codiene, yes even viagra. The pharmacists here also diagnose your problem if its not really hospital worthy. Ie. you can say I have an earache and they will give you the right medicine. We live next to the most expensive hospital in Cali, or so I've been told, and a doctors visit is 54,000 pesos. If you must return because the problem wasn't solved they don't charge you for the return visit. Well, I certainly prefer overseas pharmacies, you go to the counter, ask for something and 2 minutes later you are out of the door, and no prescription needed. In the US. you go to your doctor and pay to se him, then go to walgreens, and they tell you to come back the next day, even when you took a pain killer medicine prescription, Yeah right ! I'm going to have a pain tomorrow ? then you tell the moroons, it is a pain killer and of course you needed now, well if you are lucky you will get it in half hour. Facts: medicines will cost a fraction of what they cost in the US. There are medicines that are not available in the US.(remember the abortion pill ? and many others) in the US. You can not get most medicines without prescription, but you can buy all the illegal drugs you want in plenty of places. I still like the freedom of buying with my money what I want, and if I die because I took the wrong medicine, well it is MY LIFE ! I do not need the FDA to tell me what I can buy, it sounds like Cuba. Have a good day Alberto Title: Re: Pharmacy visits in colombia.... Most (but not all) of the stuff you need a prescription for in US are availble in Colombia after a brief (no charge) colsultation with the pharmicist. Some stuff isn't availble at all however. Not because of the laws, some stuff just isn't distributed down there. My personal GP is from Argentina and I've had two surgeries by the same guy from Colombia (both pratcie in Dallas and speak perfect English, but do get a LOT of their patients from the local Latino population BECASUE they speak Spanish). Anyway, they both say "Yeah, down there you can get any drug you WANT, but not the one you NEED". (no, they weren't making a cruel joke, they meant legitimate medicine drugs). I have heard first hand accounts of the supply limitations of "medicine". My friend Channel told me at the time his fiancee was preparing to come to the US, that the vaccines they must get were not availible at first. Then a 'shipment' showed up with enough for only 5 people. Not sure how often that kind of thing happens, but my guess is, that Colombia is certianly not like the US as far as availibility of certian things we take for granted here. It's not just the "shipments", some stuff just isn't there period. Y. sometimes has the migraines. I do too and recomended the medicine that I take to her. Neither her pharmisit nor physician was familiar with it. I even went to the company's web site and downloaded and then emailed to her the trade name, generic name, latin name, chemical formula and all that "what this drug is used for, clinical results" stuff to her. She printed it out and showed it to her doctor (who can read English) and he STILL said that he had never heard of it. However, the local stuff he perscribed (and watching the diet, no more coffee or Coca Cola) has her doing much better. So, I take it L.E. is doing well and enjoying Houston and your company? Congradulations again. I hope to be in your situation soon. Title: Re: Pharmacy visits in colombia.... You can enter the local Pharmacy in Colombia and get whatever you need simply by asking, or explaining your illness. Just remember it would be illegal to bring those items into the US without a doctor's prescription. Title: Re: Pharmacy visits in colombia.... Hey Viagra is good stuff. You don't have to have a problem for it to improve your sex life. Also I saw a news story that since Viagra there is a much smaller market for Rhino horns and bear and tiger parts(which only worked as a placebo anyway),so some endangered species are less vulnerable.I pay $9 a pill but am checking out a black market source for $3. Larry, I couldn't find your E-mail address so I will go ahead and answer your question in public here. With Viagra you stay harder longer and it is much easier to control the length of the love making.Actually I find if you go on too long it can be difficult to orgasm at all. Also orgasms are much more intence, like they last 3 times as long.So I am hooked on the little blue suckers.I do much better in this department than I ever did before even when I was in my 20's. The only side effects I notice is kind of a flushing in my face.I guess it improves blood flow to all of the body. Some people report seeing a blue tinge of color to everything,I have noticed this just slightly. I also read a report recently where women who didn't get easily aroused were given Viagra and 80% said they would like to continue to use it. Thank god for science.Whats next?
