Title: VISA Received
Post by: NOX1967 on August 26, 2004, 04:00:00 AM
My fiance Alma received her visa today. Just one week after the interview. We are planning for her to arrive Sept 10th.

Can anyone offer information on things she needs to pass immigration at the airport, and are there any fees to be paid at immigration?

Ron

Congratulations Ron!

There are no fees for immigration or customs, unless she gets hit up for customs duty, which normally should be no concern.

She is K-1, right? For immigration, they will take her sealed brown envelope and stamp her passport. Make sure she has her I-94 Arrival/Departure record when she leaves immigration. That’s the form she fills out on the plane. They usually staple it into her passport.

Technically, she is subject to a full immigration interview when she enters, so she should have all the same evidence that she had for her visa interview just in case she is questioned. However, standard procedure is to check her papers and process her right through with a cheerful “welcome to the U.S.A.” and without any serious questioning.
