Title: tuba? Post by: The Mog on March 26, 2001, 05:00:00 AM Anyone try that stuff there? I must say those Filipinos in the provinces know how to party. When I was in Butuan City in Feb., they busted out the tuba after we polished off the beer and rum. They were rolling with laughter when they saw me drinking it with ice, but I thought it tasted great that way! They also were surprised I handled it with no problem, I guess some Americans get an upset stomach from it.
Im still trying to narrow it down between three girls right now, its better to take your time I think. Title: Re: tuba? Prefer the original.. Post by: Zebson on March 26, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to tuba?, posted by The Mog on Mar 26, 2001
I prefer the original real fresh Tuba..straight out of the tree without that ink stuff they put in....When I was in Davao and Siquijor I would have about a liter of it brought to me fresh every morning and yea, it is great on ice too...slows the fermentation process a bit. After a couple of days though watch out..we are talking white lightning effects. Zeb Title: Re: tuba? Not with ice! OK, here’s how you do it right (Visayan style): A group of guys sits around in a circle with a jug of tuba & a drinking glass. When the jug & glass are passed to you, fill the glass & slam it down. But you must leave a little bit in the bottom of the glass, then dump it on the ground. And you have to make the right sounds after each shot, but I don’t know how to describe it here in print. It doesn’t upset my stomach, just makes me want to sleep (LOL). Ray |
