Pham Thi Hanh, 49, was arrested in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday shortly after tipping a cooking pot of hot vegetable oil over her daughter Vo Thi Thu Tram, 22, while she was sleeping. Mrs Tram was in bed alone in her apartment at the time of the attack. According to the city's police newspaper, Hanh told police her actions were prompted by anger because her daughter ignored her once she married a foreigner and became rich from her catwalk exploits. A doctor at the Cho Ray hospital where Mrs Tram was receiving treatment said her face was completely burned from the attack. "This will almost certainly put an end to her modelling career," she said. Hanh told police that she had worked as a street scavenger to support her daughter while she was growing up and had felt rejected by the lack of care her daughter had shown her in return, according to the Tien Phong newspaper. In the bid to bring her daughter back into the family fold so they could all live together again, Hanh decided to destroy her beautiful face, the daily added. AFP

[This message has been edited by Jay] "Mother pours hot oil over daughter" I think I got an e-mail with that title recently. :-) It's amazing how I get all these porn e-mails. Anyone know where they come from or how to stop them? I don't click on porn sites, but I do read a couple of Angeles City boards to keep up on whats happening there and who died every week. Think that may be it? Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks, Title: Filtering porn Post by: lswote on June 25, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Mother pours hot oil over daughter, posted by Jay on Jun 24, 2003
Not much you can do about the porn. Any spam filter that is relatively effective will almost certainly filter out a lot of your real email as well. The large scale spammers are continuing to effectively adapt and keep ahead of the filtering software. Until congress passes legislation that is more focused on criminalizing spamming it will continue. |
