Title: Hello All... Post by: Kreeger on May 27, 2003, 04:00:00 AM [This message has been edited by Kreeger]
I returned a good month ago from my trip to marry my sweetheart in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur. Everything went perfectly and it was a beautiful ceremony, but when I returned I was hospitalized for 3 days for an infective colitis I had acquired during my last couple of days there... it seems that I had eaten (or drank) something that didn't agree with my system. I got a colonoscopy, so I finally got to experience medicine at the other end (no pun intended). Stephen, I was waiting until we were going to pass through Butuan to call you... we were travelling to Balingoan to take the ferry to Camiguin... and when I called (on the 25th), Tess' mother said that you were expecting me to call and that I had just missed you (you guys were on your way back to CA). Sorry we missed you... I was looking forward to meeting you guys and so was Lyn. I have posted some pictures of our wedding reception and a few of our honeymoon at this site: http://community.webshots.com/user/barbslyn423 The wedding photos (in the church) are still with Lyn. The album was not ready before I left. Thanks for all the support and info that everyone has provided, both directly and indirectly. Hope you all enjoy our pictures. Joe P.S.: I filed a K3 2 weeks after I came back because I had to wait for our marriage contract to arrive. We had waived the 10-day wait period to just 5 days and had to post-date the contract, so I could not get it before I left. She sent it LBC and it arrived in 12 days. Yes! She is Kamayo and she is trying to teach me also. I think it is easier because alot of the words are taken from Visayan words and they're shortened or simplified. Thank for the congrats. You guys are really a good looking couple. I bet all her friends are now asking you if you have single friends:) I am getting married next year. My fiance wants a big wedding. If it is not too personal, can you please give me a ballpark figure on the cost of the wedding? Also, good luck to you both. Title: Wedding costs... Post by: Kreeger on May 28, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Hello All..., posted by Mark33 on May 28, 2003
Thanks Mark. As always, Lyn got accolades about her "gwapo young American" from her friends and other Filipinas that would see us together. And, of course, the next question from them was "could you find a young American for me?". Yes, being young has its advantages there... especially the attention from the ladies, but only if you're single and looking. The wedding costs for 250 people: -Wedding (including her dress, all bridesmaids' dresses, groomsmens' barongs, catered reception at a nice restaurant, cake, decorations, digital photography/video): P89,000 -My Pina Barong: P7,500 -Donation... ::ahem::.. to the church (priest) to waive the 10-day waiting period to five days: P2,000 -A future full of happiness with the most beautiful woman in the world: priceless! I really miss Camiguin Island. I sat in that very same spot at Ardent hot springs and also swam at the water falls and cold spring. Did you make it to the hot springs in the ocean? When I came back from Davao last year I had an intestinal bacteria that almost put me in the hospital. The doc here didn't know what caused it. I had to take powerful antibiotics to kill it. Hum, We passed the Tagub hot springs on the way to the sunken cemetary. They built a resort there and the entrance was not obvious. Ardent was great and very well kept. The concept they had with each of the 3 descending being cooler than the upper was great. We did hit Katibawasan falls, but didn't swim there. 2-1/2 days is not enough time (IMO) to enjoy all the attractions AND the company of your new wife, but it's all we had. Title: Congratulations! Did you guys have a chance to stop at J&A Fishpen for lunch when you were on Camiguin? Have they fixed the bumby roads yet? :-) Ray Title: Re: Congratulations! Post by: Kreeger on May 28, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Congratulations!, posted by Ray on May 28, 2003
Ray, We were not able to make it to J&A fishpen. We stayed on the NW side of the island and ate at RJ fastfood and Coron-Coron. Paradisio and Cafe Marlyn are both closed. We stayed at Paras and I was impressed by how nice (and affordable) it was. I rented a motorcycle from the owner of RJs for P400 per day and, although I wanted to circumnavigate the island, Lyn was a little sore from riding for so long... as well as being on the motor for so long :) They fixed the roads and the highlight of the trip was riding to the top (near the top) of the Tres Marias. There are some great views from up there. Overall, it was a nice stay but next time I'm back, we plan to hit Palawan. Joe Title: Welcome back......
