Title: change of passport
Post by: nealt on June 09, 2003, 04:00:00 AM
Jessica is goeing back to Cebu for 2 months and her PI passport will expire while she is there it has her maiden name on it, but all her paperwork has her married name on it how does she change it while there to her married name is it a big deal or does she just go to the embassy and get it done as she has to keep her pi passport in effect untill she becomes a u.s citizen in order to re-enter the U.S.A

Get it done now, before she leaves.

Check around your area to see if there are any Filipino travel agencies who handle consular services.

See my response to Humabdos below.

She should get a PI passport with her married name on it. It has nothing to do with the US embassy, though, but directly with the Philippine government. What I'd do, though, is have her get a new passport with her married name on it here, before she departs. You don't have to wait til the day it expires. The Philippine consulate in the US will issue her a new one. Probably less chance of having to grease the skids here than there.
