Title: videos Post by: Mark33 on April 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM I will be going to PI at the end of May for 10 days. I want to bring gifts, but my fiance refuses to ask for anything. What are good gift suggestions for parents, and children? I was thinking to get the children (Her daughter 9,niece 3,nephews 11,7)some video tapes, but what is popular there for children that age. Are there Filipino websites to order from? What are popular videos for adults? Also what is a good gift to bring the parents? my fiance? Any other gift suggestions would be appreciated. Very common in the US but uncommon in the Phils for ordinary families. Think about some hand held inexpensive Radio Shack games Chocolates are very popular everywhere in the US. Just my 2 cents worth. alvin Title: Chocolate...and more chocolate... Post by: Dave H on April 12, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to videos, posted by Mark33 on Apr 11, 2003
[This message has been edited by Dave H] Hi Mark, I think everything was pretty much covered in the other posts...videos, multi purpose knife tools and ball caps for men, perfume and various types of soaps for the ladies. Toys for kids. Hard to go wrong with chocolate...which is given out to everyone. I don't think my wife even had a piece left for herself. Anything Dragonball Z is very popular with boys that age. I bought a couple of small action figures for several boys. Also, dolls are popular with girls of that age. Even boys played with them...when they thought no one was looking. ;o))) Levis jeans are also very popular, but most likely will have to be a very petite size. Dave H. T-shirts with "made in the USA" are extrememly popular. Take lots of choclates (I took 10 bags twice and got nearly none from it). Kids like anything because they get very little now so they have nothing to compare it to. I took lots of stickers and bought toy cars and other things there (everything is cheaper there. I took my father-in-law a Gerber pocket tool and my mother-in-law some "biscuits" (cookies) and perfume. Do not forget the parents, especially the mother. If you have it I suggest that you also take your fiancee a laptop or computer and insure that she gets "Zoom" cards and a phone line in her parents house (it took 9 weeks from putting in the request). It is a lot cheaper than calling and if you get a webcam you can also see her which helped us tremendously. Hello Mark, From my experience, I would say that ANY new or old Disney (animated) movies are always hits in the Phils... Beauty And The Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Emperors New Groove, etc... I also bring toys; Barbie dolls for the 4-11 year old girls in the family and a babydoll would be good for the 3 y/o. There are these really cool mini-RC cars that are out right now... they sell for $10 at KB toys in any mall and they are as small as matchbox cars. They would be great for the boys. The boys also like basketballs (or any kind of ball). Toy stores have those little basketball/hoop combos that fit on the back of a door in the house... those are perfect. For the adults (including your honey) chocolate is HUGE there, as well as perfume and cologne. I always, ALWAYS get requests from the guys for baseball caps... NYPD/NY Yankees/LA Lakers, etc... Hope this helps, Joe Title: I forgot... Post by: Kreeger on April 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Pasalubong (gifts), posted by Kreeger on Apr 11, 2003
