Title: Charlotte INS
Post by: dennis64 on March 31, 2003, 05:00:00 AM
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my wife's Adjustment of Status.  The INS has repeatedly (about 7 times now) returned the application stating that my wife has not had all of her immunization shots even though the form clearly states she's had all of them except a couple that were waived by the doctor (due to her having already had them before arriving at St. Luke's).  The form clearly states that some of the shots are waived yet INS pretends not to notice that.  I've actually had to have my congressman and senator get involved on this.  Has anybody else had any problem like this? How did you handle it?  Any help is appreciated.

Hello,
My wife and I went thru the Charlotte INS and they asked us to have something done that was already done.  We repeated the task and got our AOS without any other problems.

Just get the shots and go on with your life.  She may even need the immunizations.

I personally find the Charlotte INS easy going and extremely helpful.  They are real professionals and have helped me and my wife on many occasions.  They went out of their way to get my wife an advance prorole prior to early travel.

Just a suggestion: Instead of fighting the BCIS(INS) and getting your congressman and senator involved, wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to just have her get the shots? What's the big deal?

Gee, I dunno - maybe because she's 7 months pregnant and I'm not interested in endangering my child with a bunch of redundant shots.  Plus the additional $200 for an unnecessary shot ain't in the budget.

Hello,
I am not sure what immunizations are being requested but most are okay to be given in the 3rd trimester as your wife is at the present time.

Try the local County Health Department which charges a minimum fee for the injections.  They will tell you the safety of giving the injections to your wife at this stage in her pregnancy.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.  My wife and I just had our second baby 2 weeks ago.

Keep your eye on your goal and that is to get your AOS approved as soon as possible.  Sometime it is better to comply than to challenge the INS.

Good luck to you and your new family.

I agree, tow their line, they are saying we want her to have the shots, you say that someone somewhere said its ok to have them "waived", obviously thats not ok with them??
