Hi All,
 I know this is the Asian board, but I just spent 2 weeks in Cartagena Colombia, and I was thinking of writing a report detailing the differences in my experiences between Colombia and the Phils.
What would you guys like to know, if anything?

Plenty of S. A.  or Mexican women here in the states. I'm trying to figure out why anyone would go all the way down there to find one? Here in NW Oregon we seem to be busting at the seams with them! It's funny though the S. A women don't seem at all interested in white men once they are here, but the S. A.  and Mexican men go wild over our fat blonde white women! (we have plenty of them too). 250lbs is no big deal for them.

I would love to see some of the archeological sites in Colombia and do a jungle trek. I hear the snake hunting is great!

If you think they go for fat blondes, wait until you see how they go bonkers over a svelte blonde, like an Anna Nichole before she porked up. The last time I was south of the border, there were lots of Anna Nicole posters and stuff. Also that Baywatch Babe, what was her name? Pamela Anderson? The one who made that porn video with her hubby, Tommy Lee.

Latin men love bodacious hooters and they want their baby to have much back, too. 44-26-38 is their style. Put that on a blonde at about 5'8" tall and they turn into Goofy on meth.

Why do you think Playboy is mainly stuck on blondes? Because of the Latin and Asian market. If you think Latin men go bonkers over a tall blonde with big hooters, go to Japan. A tall blonde stripper can almost write her own ticket in Japan. And a tall, blonde, dominatrix with a Baywatch body can literally enrich herself in a year or so over there. One Japanese businessman hired a 6 foot tall blonde with a Pamela body and leather goodies like whips and paddles and cuffs and boots and such for a party and paid her over US$100,000. A friend of mine was in attendance and knows the facts. Those little Japanese businessmen couldn't wait to line up and be paddled and dominated and ordered around. Supposedly this chick is now a millionaire and only does the very highest clientele parties and such. At a hundred grand a throw in US dollars, I don't doubt it.

We are after the Brown haired Brown eyed beauties. I personally never cared for blondes. I still follow the Asian message boards but will be seeing my Brazilian friend in Lisbon Portugal for Christmas.We have kept contact for a year now, except for a month or so I had family problems. I am looking forward to finally meeting her and I know I will here it from many people, you shouldn't write so long without going but we have kept a close phone contact, with her calling me ocassionally.
I was thinking about Pinays back in the summer but I feel that I should meet her first to see if we have chemistry together. I like the way the posters here explain their lives with the family Pinay atmosphere. If this wasn't to work out for me I might decide to try the Asian route but now I want to concentrate on my Brasileria. Hopefully she doesn't have that Latina temper that DaveH and others say!

I really don't know much about Brazilian women. My son's best friend is Brazilian. Both he and his father are very mellow. His mother is a bit on the fiery side though! Good luck in Lisbon!

They are not genuinely attracted to "fat blonde white women" because fat women are always disgusting, unless of course these men have some bizarre fat fetish.

It's a status issue.  Some Mexicans see any white woman as a road to respectability regardless of looks.  Also keep in mind that if you're coming from a third world nation, obesity is often a sign of status because it's assumed you must be so filthy rich to afford to buy all that food.  They can't comprehend just how little money it really takes for a woman living in the United States to buy enough food so she can pork out whenever she pleases.

One the main reasons I decided to search for my soul mate internationally is because there are too many oinkers locally.

I've seen the fat blond attraction in action.  250+ lbs, blond, and the two Mexicans I was dropping off at the border found her very attractive.

I think you can make the same statement about finding a lady here versus going overseas for most ethnicities, including Filipinas (there's lots of them here in San Diego).  I've also seen quite a few up in Beaverton OR on some business trips.

I'd think hard about going into the Colombian jungles.  I went to a remote area to climb a mountain once and ran into some guerillas on the walk out (the kind with AK47's, not fur).  They didn't give me any trouble, but I was attacked the day after by a gang......... of ants.   It was apparently pay back time for all those innocent California ants I fried with a magnifying glass as a kid.

Well,  a buddy of mine has been wanting to take a trip to LA for a long time, and when he asked me if I would
like to join him in a trip to Colombia, I jumped at the chance to learn more about that part of the world.
The city that we decided to visit is Cartagena Colombia.
Cartagena is resort area in Colombia that is visited mostly by vacationers from inside Colombia, it seems
like a combination of Las Vegas, and a really nice beach resort.  I really do not know how the city and its people
compare to the rest of Colombia, but as far as just a city to visit, it blows away anything and everything
that I have seen in my 5 trips to the Phils.  The food, accommadations, and the culture are incredible.
The city is almost 500 years old, and is breathtakingly beautiful.
As far as a place to visit, IMHO, it is much nicer than the Phils in the following areas:
The food:  it is cheap and incredibly tasty. You can have a filet mignon with all the extras for only about
$4, and the meat is tender enough to be cut with a fork.   Seafood is plentiful and cheap.  Quality
shellfish is easier to find, and is as cheap as the Phils.
The hotels:  nicer hotels are about $50-60, with budget hotels, near the ocean, for about $20 a night.
Culture:  the old part of the city with its fortresses and churchs it just incredible.  You can spend
days just checking out the buildings that are hundreds of years old.
The weather:  the climate is about the same as the Phils, but the air is much cleaner.  It is near the equator, so the sun rises and sets about 6:00 every day of the year, just like the Phils.
Poverty:  Cartagena definitely has its beggars and touts, but the people as a whole seem to have a much better standard of living than the Phils.
Taxis:  just as cheap as the Phils, and less likely to try and rip you off.  Most short trips are $1-3, and I very rarely
was hassled by the drivers.

Okay, lets talk about the women :0)
Most of my experience has been in visiting the Phils, and I have only visited one city in Colombia for only one visit.  So, my opinions are just that- opinions.
In Colombia I met women three different ways; from the internet, talking to them in restaurants and stores, and by visiting A Foreign Affair.
The women that I met all spoke little or absolutely no English at all.  I do speak enough Spanish to have a simple
conversation, and there were actually several that I could communicate with for hours at a time.  But, then there were also those whose Spanish was so heavily accented that I could not understand them, and they could not understand my bad Spanish.  So, IMHO,  having a relationship with one of these women would be extremely difficult unless you are fluent in Spanish.  And, some of the women did have an attitude similar to many Americans
of  "what are you doing here, if you do not speak the language?".

I met several women thru the internet,  one of whom I spent a lot of time with.  She was educated, mature, feminine, and seemed to come from a good family.  She made it very clear that if I were just looking for sex, that I needed to look elsewhere, and we never did more than just hold hands.
She spoke very little English, but did not seem to have much of a problem with my limited Spanish. She was a great companion for going out to eat and touring the city.  She did surprise me by not suggesting we go out dancing, as all the others had.  When I met her family, they lived in a
neighborhood that was crowded by American standards, but was clean, well maintained, and friendly.  Most of the housing that I saw was much nicer than the Philippines, and did not have any of the walls that are so common in the Phils.

The women in Colombia are very feminine, and dress to kill.  Many of them seemed annoyed if you did not look
at them as they were walking by.  If you are a fanny man, you will be in heaven.  Filipinas all seem to wear the same uniform of jeans and a tight fitting top.  Filipinas don't dress as sexy, but if you are a boob man, there are plenty of Filipinas that will give you a pleasant surprise.
The cheap tall shoes seem just as common in Colombia as they are in the Phils. Also, many Colombians carry cell phones, but they use them for conversations, not for that annoying texting.
One thing that I found in common is the number of women that tried to tell me that they absolutely adored cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes.  It sounds great,  but I doubt it is always true in either country.

The meetings:  some of the women met us at our hotel ready to party- for a price.  It was obvious that some of them use the matchmaking services to supplement their "business".  Some incredibly beautiful women showed up at our door expecting to get paid.
None of the other women (the good girls) seemed hesitant to meet us at our hotel, though some did bring a friend or sister along.  The preferred evening activity was dinner and dancing, and these women are incredible dancers.
There was very little, if any, of the shyness that is so common in the Phils.  The women in Colombia seemed more outgoing, mature, and eager to talk
Meeting women did seem more difficult than in the Phils.  Colombia seems like a more formal country, and you are expected to dress well, and not be the typical sloppy American tourist.  In the Phils it seems like the Filipinas truly find any foreign man to be attractive, while in Colombia your appearance and charm are more important.

Safety:  I have always felt safe anywhere I have gone in the Phils.  In Cartagena I felt just as safe, but that would probably not apply to the rest of the country.

I met 3 women thru A Foreign Affair.  Basically you can just show up, and pay $25 per introduction, or $100 for 5 introductions.   They have books that you look thru with hundreds of photos and profiles.  The profiles did not provide more than the simplest of information, and the staff did not seem too eager to provide more info about any of the women that you were interested in.  Out of about 15 women that I chose, they scheduled 3 introductions for the next day.  The meetings are held in their small office, and I was not happy with the lack of privacy, but the staff was very helpful in assisting in translations.  The first girl that I met arrived with a frown on her face, and had a very cheap look about her.  I thanked her for meeting me, and we said goodbye.  The staff seemed to agree with my guess that she was probably a working girl.
The second woman that I met was on time, to the minute,  and was very friendly, attractive, and talkative.
She suggested that we walk to a nearby restaurant, and talk in a more private setting.  With her bad English, and my bad Spanish, we were able to talk for hours.   The only negative was when I asked about her family she mentioned several times that she had a two year old sister, and that if I met her mother, the mother might try and tease me and tell me that the sister is really the daughter of the woman that I was talking to.  Never did learn the truth, but it did leave me suspicious.
The third woman that I met was much prettier then her picture, and did not speak one work of English..  In addition to that, she did not understand one word of my Spanish.  The translator kept asking her why she did not understand me, when he could understand me perfectly.  Also,  I could understand most of her Spanish, and I would have really liked to have talked with her more, but I just did not want to want to always need the services of a translator.  I thanked her for meeting with me, and I tried to say goodbye, but she wanted to go with me.
I had the translator explain that I wanted someone that i could communicate with, but she still wanted to go with me.  I tried to leave gracefully, and I really do not know where she expected us to go without being able to communicate.
I did watch one American meet a woman at the agency my first day there, and 95% of their conversation was thru the translator.  The next day he is there to get information on how to start the process to bring her to America.
I told him that I had been thru the process once before, and to give me a call if he has any questions.
Poor guy, I hoped he doesn't get screwed over too bad.

I guess that the type of man that you are would help determine which country you prefer.  The Colombianas seem more outgoing and verbal, while the Filipinas seem more introverted and reserved.  

Anyway,  IMHO,  it seems like it would be easier to find a nice, sweet woman in the Phils.  Filipinas seem more approachable, and most do speak English.  I could not see going to Colombia for a wife unless I were fluent in Spanish.  The city of Cartagena makes for a much more pleasant place to visit, but the language difference just would be too much of a burden for me.

good report, even though i have not been to cartagena, cali a few times and bogota many times, you are pretty close with the rest of the cities, but bogota is more business like, and so are the women, where i would assume cali and cartagena sound very similar. anyways, i have a few friends here in my city who are filipina/amercian and they are really nice. i thought about going over there before colombia, but i was more attracted to the big chested latin women, and no, dont call me a pig! its just what  im attracted too. also ,the seem to have a better system of meeting  girls, meaning agencies. i had a friend of mine who liven in indonesia for a year. he wanted me to visit, but i never did, and i wished i would have.

Hi Mudd,
 Actually I have been more impressed with the boobs in the Phils than the ones in Colombia.  The difference is that the Colombianas dress to show them off, and the Filipinas dress to hide them.  Not that it should be a determining factor in who you marry,  but there are a lot of Filipinas out that I believe would really surprise you.

about Boobs hehehe..I agree that Filipinas are going to surprise her Man. My ex AW Pinay had unbelievable large boobs, I regret leaving her for the Philippines to meet my first and only Penpal. When I returned to America after three months, my ex had already married another man. Just my bad luck to let a good AW Pinay get away, I really don't think most AWs are bad, just that most of the good ones are taken. Can you tell us more about Colombia? Did the Guy that went with you find a Calena? How was his Spainish?

Hi Greg,
 The guy that went with me was mainly looking to have a nice vacation, and wasn't too concerned about meeting someone.  His Spanish is about as basic as mine, but he did meet a nice woman that he spent some time with.
As a vacation spot I could definitely see returning to Cartagena. I could also see being in a relationship with a woman from there, but only if I were fluent in Spanish.

I'm attracted to big breasted women - and my Japanese wife knows this, so often points them out to me with a "mitte - oki opai!" meaning "Look - big boobs!" Usually she spots them before I do usually resulting in me swiveling around and asking "doko doko?" (Where, where?) Huge knockers just weren't very high up on my list of important characteristics of a wife. Don't get me wrong, my wife has a great figure, so no complaints here.

In fact, I don't like skinny gals.  That's why I never gave a lot of thought to Filipinas because I thought they would be too skinny.

Hi Don,

Thanks for your report! I think that it's great that you "went the other way" and checked out Colombia. I concur with your findings. I do find many similarities between Latin American cultures and that of the Philippines. If I had to choose only between Asian or Spanish to classify the culture of the Philippines, I wouldn't hesitate to say Spanish. But, that really only tells part of the story.

Having dated latinas in the USA for 15 yrs, many or most from Mexico, and South America, I agree. Having spent 3 months in the phils this year i think the differences are as follows:
By the way before you read this........
Hopefully the guys from the latin board who read our board
wont go through the roof and start a War, like they have in the past when i post my views on the differences., Hey latin lover guys, to each his own, who cares if we Prefer Filipinas, if you dont like it, dont read our board.

Latinas From South of the Border

1)Dont speak english, for the most part, how can you get to know a girl from thousands of miles  away, in a short time
when you cant understand each other, I speak passable spanish but as Don discovered, passable is not sufficient.

2)Put too much emphasis on clothes, money, etc

3)Much more temperamental and more likely to have a verbal altercation, if
they disagree with you, including shouting, insulting, throwing things.

Filipinas

1)More Playful, easy going

2)speak english

3)Somewhat shy but this disappears somewhat after the initial get to know you stage but remains always to a degree that makes me think they are charming.

4)Much more eager to please the man, let the man be himself, and not
compete with the man, on an emotional level.

5)Much less confrontational and less eager to engage in a verbal altercation when  they dont get their way.They tend to be silent, pout, or hmpt you. I like this more laid back approach.

5.5) Less critical of the man in general , more likely to let the man be who he is, instead of tring to change him, or have him try to live up to what they think he should be

6)Much less picky of the mans clothes, Money, career, and Looks, . Even though i consider myself attractive and i make good money at my job, I dont want a woman who is with me because iM handsome or because Im financially successful.

You would be much more likely to find a pinay accept a man who is not good looking  in a traditional sense,
They are more likely to look inside the heart, not at the outside appearance, or the bank statement .

7)Very happy  to just be with a man who treats them well, etc etc

8)They are just so darn Loveable
