Title: Long hours on horseback Post by: The Walker on November 11, 2002, 05:00:00 AM I really appreciate those old time cowboys. After spending A lot of hours in the saddle, I think we have almost all the cattle rounded up and back behind wire. There may be a few still running around or else dead in the woods, but for the most part we have them rounded up.
Oh, my aching back and behind. It doesn't help that the rains came back and brought the wind with them. Out of consideration for the horses I shifted between three, but I stayed in the saddle. The insides of my thighs are rubbed raw and my butt is chapped. Three days in the saddle, 18 hours a day, in the rain will do that to you. I am taking a couple of days off and allowing Vicky to play nurse (no, not that way, well...yeah, maybe!) and my legs to heal. I haven't been this raw since Niece starched my jeans into cardboard so long ago. Vicky woke up when I came in. I haven't been home except to change cell phone batteries and grab some chow. So my beautiful, dutiful and wonderful wife is cooking me some very badly needed hot chow. And coffee. It won't keep me awake. After food I will go take a shower and probably curse when the soap hits my raw loins. I figured I had better write this before I ate as when I hit the hay I'll probably sleep 12 hours or better. Good to hear some old timers are back at least for a little while. Talk at you all in a couple of days. I can not say anything about cattle but I have spent plenty of long hours riding a bukking ship in a 60 knot blow so I can guess how you feel Title: Raw Hide! Post by: Humabdos on November 11, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Long hours on horseback, posted by Nathan on Nov 11, 2002
One of my favorite old TV shows, along with The Rifle man, and Bonanza. I live in the city but am a country boy at heart. You might want to try some Gold Bond on that arse. Hum |
